What Is Creatine And Does It Work

How does creatine works?

i bought a couple of creatine capsules but i'm in doubt on how to take it....do i take it before during or after the workout? what does it do to my muscles? please help...thnak you...

What does creatine do for you?

Ok, I'm not gonna give you a bs site or talk where you don't understand a word I say, I'll tell you straight up. Creatine is a good supplement. A good way to start off on your creatine cycle is to load for the first 5 days taking 4 scoops, 1 every 3 or 4 hours. This means packing as much creatine in your system as you can as fast as you can to get quicker results. The reason people do this is because eventually you reach this "peak" point eventually to where the creatine eventually has no effect and you can achieve it quicker this way. Now after the first 5 days, go for about 2 weeks taking only 2 scoops, 1 before and 1 after your workout. After these 2 weeks, take 1 serving for 1 week after your workout. Then, it's time to take a good 2-3 week break off of it. Why? Because when you reach your peak, the creatine will no longer effect you. Having this break off of the stuff will let it deplete so you can restart the cycle and get your benefits from it.

Now what creatine does is it helps the storage of water in your muscles, this is why you need to stay VERY hydrated. With the water in your muscles, you can go longer and harder without tiring as easily so you can tear more muscle and work harder. The creatine itself will not make you big and strong, it depends on how hard you lift. That's why serious athletes and bodybuilders use it. Also, you won't see magical results in a short time, it takes a while. If you're not using it right, I'd recommend using whey protein 30 minutes after your workout to help build and repair those hard worked muscles. Good luck! :)

Does creatine work?

Yes. Creatine helps to build muscle mass by flooding your muscles with water. It also helps to supress the fatigued feeling your muscles get while working out to allow for a longer training session. The down sides are that you may experience joint problems where the fluid has built up. Most people I know had it in there knees or elbows. Another issue is that you tend to sweat out a lot of your new muscle mass in the heat, so drinking a TON of water is a must. Hope this helps. Feel free to e-mail with any further questions, as I was on creatine for about three years.

How fast and well does creatine work?

If you seriously want mass and muscle I would not recommend creatine. It builds mass and endurance but the majority of that is water. Creatine increased the amount of water your muscles can intake to increase endurance but the end result is not good. First off you naturaly make creatine and it only creates soft muscle. Instead of hard muscle it will create more of a pudgy feeling, but not as soft as fat. If your in for size i recommend creatine. But if your in for size and hardness i recommend some specialized protein like Nitrotech Hardcore by Muscletech. It has protein and important nutrients like the amino acids you need and L-Glutamine which is needed for protein synthesis and important for building muscle. It has small amounts of creatine monohydate but it is not enough to make your muscles soft and pudgy but gives you the endurance that normal creatine is. If anything don't take pure creatine or large amounts because it is naturally occurring in meat. Although i must admit that Nitrotech Hardcore is extremely effective for building hard muscle and increases mass noticeably in a week, at least for me it did.

Does creatine actually work?

So you ask, "does it work?". Do you have some notion as to what creatine is, or what exactly it's supposed to do?
Are you just taking the stuff because "you heard it was good"?

Creatine is the second metabolic chemical that's used by your muscles to do work. Your body manufactures the stuff. The first metabolite is ATP. Your body makes that too.
ATP provides energy for hard muscle contractions for maybe 2-3 seconds.
Then creatine kicks in, splitting off a phosphate molecule to replenish the ATP. This lasts for about 10 seconds of hard effort.

Then, you start switching over to the aerobic system and must start using oxygen and blood sugar for energy.

The idea behind taking creatine is that you can increase that 10-second window of hard effort, so that you can, when working out, lift harder and stronger for just a bit longer.... And hopefully get a better workout.
Or, when playing certain sports, (like football) you can go "harder" for a typical play than you could otherwise.

Does any of this work? That's largely a matter of debate. I am not aware of any scientific studies published in peer-reviewed journals.
Only promotional anecdotes which are.... Suspect.
Also, no long-term studies have been done as to health effects and such.

Bottom line... I wouldn't use it.

What is creatine? does it work? where can i get some?

Supplementation of Creatine has been shown to extend peak athletic performance for longer periods during high intensity exercise. It helps shorten the time necessary for the body to generate replacement Creatine Phosphate, reducing muscle recovery time between high intensity activities.

Helps Rebuild Lean Muscle Mass One of the problems associated with inactive (dystrophic) muscle is its depleted levels of Creatine. Supplementation with Creatine enables the muscles to work harder during training and therapy to help rebuild itself to its normal state.

To Help Correct Creatine Deficiencies Disease or age-related Creatine deficiencies can be improved with the supplementation of Creatine Monohydrate, supportive to a more active, normal life style. You can find it at a very reasonable site listed here.

What does creatine do in the gym?

My first bottle of creatine came in the mail.It was over 100 bucks for 125g.That was 1994 when it hit the market if I'm not mistaken. Here is how I explain creatine to people. If you have a plywood mill and you get an extra big PO for more bundles of wood than you can handle but it's a Huge new customer that you want repeat business from, what do you do?Build onto your mill and increase the size so that you can hire more workers and install a new press.Voila, you can fulfill the order.CREATINE increases the size of your cellular protein mill!Because it is a hydrophilic substance, it attracts extra water into your muscle cells.Of course, it gives you an immediate strength gain just from the extra water BUT the real magic happens when you STAY ON IT for long periods.Because your organelles in the cell have all the extra space, they can do their job better and in more volume.Edit: It also increases your “battery capacity” for producing DC electric current.More water, more charge. You recover faster etc. All the stuff creatine is used for.You don't need sugar with it. Just take it every day and don't miss.Between 2 and 5 g a day depending on your size. Eventually it will reach its saturation point in your bloodstream. You don't need to load on it.That's a money grab…not that it really matters, it's cheap as ** ** now…:)I could buy that 125g now for 10 bucks.Hmmm, I seem to remember that we would even “re-load” every few weeks back then while experimenting…as it's so cheap now, why the heck not?Added: another reason creatine is great> it promotes people drinking more water! Seeing as we are 99% water if you break us right down to the weight of our individual molecules, many people are “hard gainers” for one side reason. DehydrationP. S. Creatine does not hurt your kidneys. They give it to elderly people folks!C f

Is creatine good to take if you don’t work out?

If what you mean by good is “will it save me the trouble of having to get to the gym to lift heavy weights and sweating it out?”Then the answer is, probably not.But there are very few “silver bullets”[1] in the wonderful world of nutritional supplements, or any other pharmacological world, for that matter. Creatine plays a key role in all sorts of useful energy releasing reactions necessary for life and is certainly not one of these silver bullets.Creatine, a Krebs Cycle intermediate necessary for releasing energy from the foods you eat, is also a key component of the creatine-phosphate shuttle that is essential for helping your little mitochondria do what they do best.As far as practical reasons for taking it other than training? There are probably quite a few, as energy is always a useful commodity. A couple of these alternative uses immediately pop to mind: as a nootropic and for its evident antidepressant properties. Your brain uses up a lot of energy, so creatine is unlikely to hurt, as long as you like to use your head. Personally, I always find a blast of psychic energy every now and then welcome.Recent research also strongly suggests that it is a good adjunct to SSRI therapies and even perhaps efficacious as a standalone treatment for certain types of depression.Footnotes[1] http://Substances that you can t...

What does creatine actually do?

creatine monohyrdate is used to increase intracellular levels of creatine. It is used to make ATP(cellular fuel) during anaerobic activities such as lifting weights. It is typically used during the first 6-8 seconds of all types of exercise by binding to an ADP molecule to make ATP for rapid metabolism by your a muscle cell. by increasing intracellular levels of creatine, you will be able have an increased muscular endurance during the exercise as well as recover faster between sets

Does creatine work straight away?
