Does ps4 will play ps3 games?
sony said in a statement about a month back that that ps3 games cant be played on ps4, in some says its not really fair because alot of people (including me) have alot of games for ps3 and since we cant play them on the ps4 there going to be worthless unless we keep our ps3's. but i suspect alot of people will sell there ps3's and put the money towards a ps4. only good thing is once the ps4 comes out you'll be abile to pick up any ps3 game for next to nothing :)

No, you cant play PS3 games on a PS4. I tried to put a PS3 game disc on my PS4 and it said the PS4 cant read PS3 games. However, Sony announced that some PS3 games can be played later on PS4 by streaming via Gaikai, but Sony didnt reveal yet how this will work. But Gaikai will probably not be available until next summer. So as for now, you need to keep your PS3 to play PS3 games.

Digitally downloaded games purchased on the PS3 will not carry over to the PS4. G. Arikado is right about Gaikai offering a streaming service however it has no relation at all to the PS3. In fact after you download your profile onto your PS4 from your PS3, your account is no longer on your PS3, so you will only be able to play your disc games on your PS3. I have no idea where he heard his info but at E3 Sony said the streaming service will be available for either a monthly fee, a one one time payment, or some sort of rental program. Gaikai won't actually come to the PS4 until summer 2014 so there is still a long time for them to make up their minds.
Download PS3 Games to PS4 From PS Store?
You will be able to play ALL PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on your PS4. Starting in 2014 via Sony's recently acquired Gaikai service and technology (cloud-based gaming tech), you will be able to stream your old games to your PS4 system (PS3 games and PS1/PS2). Although you will be able to stream these games to your PS4, the PS4 is NOT backwards compatible (meaning that you will NOT be able to play your PS1/PS2/PS3 disc games on the next-gen console). As I said, NO PS1/PS2/PS3 disc games, but you can stream them with Gaikai. So, my advice is to continue purchasing games on the PSN, but try to purchase as much content on the PSN rather than on disc. This way, when the Gaikai service is up and running in 2014, you can then stream your PS3 content to your PS4 system. I doubt Sony is going to charge a fee to "re-download" your recently purchased PSN content onto your PS4, but I'm not really sure if they have commented on that part yet. I seriously doubt Sony will charge you "again" or even a small fee to download previously purchased PSN content to your PS4, as this will upset gamers (as we all know from the recent E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles, CA, Sony is in the business of keeping gamers on their side... and happy)!!! No the PS4 dosen't have backwards compatibility, meaning you can't play PS3 disc. However, Sony is currently working to bring the "Gaikai"service to the PS4. Gaikai is "Cloud Gaming" which lets you buy and play games from their database on your PS4 without waiting hours for the game to download. I am a little thrown off by your answer Dylan. If I were to get a ps4, would I need to wait to be able to play ratchet and clank? That is my big question. I really don't want to buy it and then need to wait a long time to actually use it. Thanks.

Neither the Xbox One or PS4 will be backwards compatible. That means your Xbox 360 games will not work on the Xbox One, nor will any of your PS1, PS2, or PS3 games will work on the PS4. However, Sony has talked about GaiKai, a streaming service that will be available for the PS4 starting sometime in 2014. GaiKai will stream PS1, PS2 and PS3 games from their servers, to your TV through your PS4. If you're familiar with the OnLive service for the PC, it's the same idea. No details have been released about costs. I assume you will have to re-buy your PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on GaiKai. You will not be able to use your discs to "unlock" them. In short: Hold onto your PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360!
