What Is It About The Quran Literacy That Is So Fascinating

Should Bible literacy courses be allowed as elective courses in public schools?

It's all or nothing. You either also allow Qur'an literacy courses, Sri Guru Granth Sahib literacy courses, Gita and Vedas literacy courses and so on or you allow none. If you allow none of the others, then it is an attempt to sneak your specific religion in.I have no problem with a comparative religion course in schools, covering all the major religions. In fact, I am a big proponent, because it helps the critical thinking along a bit.In New Zealand we take tolerant secularism (freedom of religion and freedom from religion) seriously. The only people who grumble about this are some Christians who are not yet used to the fact that their specific religion does not enjoy special privileges over the others any more. For example, we have the Secular Education Network, which opposes Christians trying to sneak bible study into schools. Not only do they have support from atheists, they also have huge support from our Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, Hindu and Buddhist communities.

Have all Muslims read Quran and understood the Quran?

I think this is a fascinating question. I am a Muslim. I profess my faith in the Prophet Muhammad and in the concept of unity of God. However, I admit I have never read the Quran from cover to cover. I have sat through study circles that focused on certain chapters. I have attended other lectures where we focus on a theme of Quranic verses. I have referenced the Quran for translations to verses I have memorized or the chapters I am trying to memorize. The fact that I have not read the Quran from cover to cover is actually something that has been weighing on my conscious for some time now. This became a prominent issue when I went from reading 12 books in a year to finishing 50, and then setting a goal to read 100 this past year. I realized, as I was going about achieving these reading goals, that if I applied myself the same way as I was to this reading goal I could easily go through the Quran. Part of why I haven't read the Quran has a lot to do with the fact that when I tried I was often told by well meaning friends that to truly understand the Quran I needed to learn Arabic. The translation of the Quran from Arabic into English is not sufficient enough since a good portion of the Quranic Arabic does not do well at translation. This aspect makes it harder for Muslims who don't know Arabic from having access to the text for studying. However, I think there is a difference here that needs to be identified- reading versus studying. One can read the Quran and get one meaning that is drastically different then what one would get if they studied the Quran. To study the Quran means not just reading the translation, but also looking at the context, studying the hadith that are associated to the verses, as well as reading the commentary that various scholars of Islam have provided. To try to glean religious rulings, however, can not happen from just reading the English text and studying the Quran the way I have described. If you want, you are welcome to follow my own journey as I read the English translation of the Arabic and study the commentary on the Quran. Also, do note that in the United States, of all the Christians who profess to believe in the Bible in a 2013 survey done by the American Bible Society, more have read the 50 Shades of Grey series from cover to cover then have read the Bible. So Muslims are not alone when it comes to studying their holy text, yet professing belief in it.

If Muhammad composed the Quran, how come its poetic tone is rich and fascinating?

You should also ask, why do the instructions and parables in it repeat, revisit and/or revise what was in the other scriptures? The messengers of the books lived in different centuries, (some) spoke different languages and were of different cultures. When you realize this how can one conclude that the books were composed by the prophets. But to specifically address your point: how can an illiterate Arab compose such beauty? The conclusion also suggests….he didn't. This his main miracle; instantaneous literacy and poetic capacity. A sign to mankind.

What affect did the coming of Islam have on African religion, society, political structures, trade and culture?

So yea basically the question is already stated.
I know that the basic tenets of Islam were in conflict with traditional African religion and that the expansion of Islam is what contributed to the fall of Axum. however, I know that there is more to that question but I just can't seem to come up with the answer.

Which book/videos/sites would you refer for a person who is interested in learning about Islam?here a list of Books I've read the last few years that I recommend:1- “ Misgod'ed : A Roadmap of Guidance and Misguidance in the Abrahamic Religions “ by Dr Laurence B. Brown. this book articulates many of the questions readers have about religion, and poses others of its own. It provides a comprehensive, historically based analysis of documents, traditions and institutions. The central theme is to examine Judaism, Christianity, and Islam for truth in revelation, and trace the chain of revelation to its logical conclusion. Solicitous and precise, this text captures the essence of what it means to be a person of God. > PDF + Audio2- What Everyone Should Know About Islam and Muslims by Suzanne Haneef > PDF3- Understanding Islam: A Guide for the Judaeo-Christian Reader by Dr Jerald Dirks4- The Cross & the Crescent by Dr Jerald Dirks5- Towards Understanding the Qur'an by Abul A'la Maududi6- The Man in the Red Underpants by A. Bible contradictions?

why does the bible contradict is self so much such as gen 1 and 2 disagree about the order of which things where created. The great flood.
In gen 1 it says god told mosses to take 1 pair of each in gen 2 it says god said 7 pairs of each of the clean ones.
The gospel of john disagrees with the other 3 Gospels about Jesus Christ ( like how long he stayed in Jerusalem- a couple of days or a whole year).
All four gospels contradict each other on the details of Christ's last moments and resurrection

In [2 Sam 21:8, 9,14 / Gen 22:2 / Jud 11:30-32,43.38.39]
it says god accepts human scarifies but in [deut 12:30,31] it says he forbids it

In [john 19:17] it says Jesus boar his own cross but in [mat 27:31-32] it says he didn't
i just don't get it!
