What Is Life Like For A Typical Firefighter

What does a typical day for a firefighter look like?

There are very few fires now a days.
Of course everything depends on where you work.
A couple of my officers left to become firefighters (they wanted to have a more normal life and see their kids more often).
One went to an airport house. Very busy airport. After 2 years the only fire he ever saw was in practice.

The other went to a ghetto house.
He saw a few fires but since he was cross trained paramedic and on an engine company that goes out and assists the ambulance in the same house. The ambulance crews go to a lot of calls.

Even with that they both work 24 on 48 off. during their 24 on most of the time they sleep through the night, exercise, watch TV, maintain equipment and practice.

So typically ain't much.
But when it comes to actually fighting a fire it is terrifying and sure exhausting work, no matter how god a shape you are in.

What do firefighters at airports do all day?

Even world wide, emergencies at airports are rare, so the full time firefighters at a specific airport must be bored out of their mind.

What do they do all day ?

Female firefighter attractive?

I received a note in my mail box from you:) Thanks:) I want to let you know that what you do is not something that should ever be taken for granted:) You work very hard each and everyday. It does take a lot of brains and skills just to be a firefighter:) You need to be proud of yourself:) The men in your life will come and go for awhile. You need to just take your time. My answer to you about the men is this. A real man will find you, he will stand strong with you and be there for you no matter what! Some men maybe shy as well. They see this wonderful lady very smart talented and may not know what to say to get your full attention. I would think, you in that case will need to open up the door to the conservation. Get it started with small talk. There is a saying that is very old. My younger son said to me a while back. A good man only comes in your life once, he will love you no matter what your past holds, or your future. When a good man comes along in your life, make sure you take in account everything you see in him and things you both like! Never open the door half way. When you find the man of your dreams or when he finds you open yourself up in every possible way let him see you:) Let him show himself to you as well:) If a man does not see you for who and what you are then they are not worth your time or efforts. I hope this helps you find yourself, and build your confidence, be proud to be the lady you are:)

Are psychologists real life heroes like firefighters and police?

No, I don't believe they are. If you go to a medical doctor with something that concerns you, they will tell you if it's a genuine medical problem or tell you that it's perfectly normal and send you on your way. Most psychologists, however, will tell you that you DO have a problem that needs to be fixed. They'll recommend treatments and therapies that only they can provide to you. More often than not they will diagnose a "Personality Disorder", which in order to treat will require at least one whole year of therapy. There are PDs that people do suffer with, in the same way that there are medical illnesses etc., but what most people don't realise/know is that a hell of a lot are 'invented' by the very people that get paid to 'treat' them. For example, the Manual that describes the symptoms of mental illnesses is updated on a regular basis and every time it is, several PDs are added. The next addition due out has new PDs such as;  Adult Intermittent Aggression Disorder.  In laymans terms, temper tantrums! There are at least five, new PDs of this ilk that are going to be in the latest Diagnostic Manuals. There are some excellent psychologists who are very good at treating the genuine PDs and do help enormously. However, the vast majority of them play along with, and contribute to, the PD 'scam' that has seen a massive increase in this area, that whilst providing them with constant 'therapy fodder', and the subsequent income/employment, has had a detrimental effect on those who are genuinely suffering.

Are all firefighters good looking?

i believe it's a requirement for employment. a smokin' profession needs smokin' men. no complaints here!

What’s it like being a firefighter in a firefight?

I think you're confusing terms…A "firefight" is typically used to describe a gunfight or battle between armed soldiers or sometimes law enforcement, where parties to the "fight" are shooting back and forth at each other.A "firefighter" fights fires, the actual hot crackling smokey kind of fire, in structures or in grass/brush/wildlands. A typical peacetime firefighter is not going to be involved in any firefights.I've heard of firefighters having to assist police SWAT teams when barricaded subjects have lit fires to the buildings they are in, and I'm sure there are designated firefighters who have to work to put out fires in military installations during battle or other exceptions but typically firefighters are going to leave the "firefights" to PD and the military.
