What Is Marine Bootcamp Like For Females Do They Learn The Same Things As Males

Question about Marine boot camp for females?

I know this has probably been asked before, and I looked around, but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I'm considering enlisting with the Marines and I could use some advice on boot camp (more than likely from females, since I'm sure males won't have insight on some of the questions, but any help is welcome).

What is it like for females at PI? How do you handle having your period, do they supply you with tampons/pads, and do they allow you to go to the head and change them when you need to? What if you have a medical condition that requires meds (mine isn't anything major, and the meds are more of a preventative action)? Also, my lips are super sensitive and I have to wear SPF chapstick all the time, otherwise if my lips dry/crack and/or sunburn then they blister up and swell really bad...would they allow me to bring chapstick with me?

Any help with these questions or anything else you can think of would be much appreciated...thankyou!

Female joining the us marines?

Recruit training for women is tough, just like for the men. Women recruits don't train with the males but it is hard.

Everyone who joins the Marines has some apprehension. It's a lot tougher than the Army. It wouldn't surprise me if training for Women Marines were tougher than for male soldiers.

Hopefully some Women Marines will share some details with you. I am not a female.

--- Sure you are, Topgun.

Female Marine Boot Camp?

While the standards are not the same yet, they are changing. By 2015, females will have to be able to do 3 pull-ups to enlist, and run under 28 minutes on the 3 mile to pass the PFT. In bootcamp, we already hike with the same weight, and the same distance, and are expected to qualify with the same scores on rifle range, and are held to the same academic standard. You will have to work twice as hard to prove you're worth something to any male. No matter what you do or how proficient you are, there's going to be some dumb b**** that f***s up every females reputation, and you hear it constantly in bootcamp "don't be that one".

Oh yeah, and bootcamp sucks, and MCT is miserable too. Get in shape and don't get hurt. Don't learn too much before you go, learn to adapt while you're there.

What do girls do in the Marines boot camp?

Girls and boys don't join the Marine Corps, men and women do.

You get a lot of yelling when you first get there. You will become an active person on your first day. If you don't like physical activity such as running, PT, swim quals, and the Crucible, join the Army.

The Marines don't do a lot to differentiate between males and females except the physical requirements. You'll learn to shoot a rifle and do hand to hand combat like all Marines do. It isn't something for those who want an easy life.

You'll be required to meet high standards during your entire enlistment. One of the things I was mistaken about was life in the Corps. I thought all military service was about the same once you got out of boot camp. Big mistake! Boot camp is just the beginning. You'll spend your entire time in the Marine Corps meeting higher standards than any other branch.

It isn't just the physical standards, it's in the way you wear your uniform to the way you respect others to the way you salute. Don't join the Marine Corps if you don't have a dedication which will carry you through your entire enlistment.

EVA is right, we're all pompous assholes. We have to be because much more is expected of us.

What's the difference between a male boot camp and a female boot camp in the Marines?

In my day the WM’s did not receive combat training, weapons instruction, etc… we were told how to be ladies, had make-up classes, etiquette teas. Our mission was to relieve the fighting men in mostly office positions. We weren't cursed or hit but did A LOT of extra PT for offenses. My biggest offense was I was friendly and smiled a lot. Many extra push-ups, mountain climbers, and extra watches for me. I am so proud of being a Marine.

What is US Marine Corps boot camp like for a woman?

I assume you're asking because you're thinking about enlisting.Yes, it will be physically challenging but it will also be mentally challenging, which many people overlook. There are two aspects of this.First, there will be a lot of book knowledge that you will need to learn and retain because you will be tested on it. As in actual written and practical exams. Fortunately, your drill instructors will make you shout most of those things back at them so you'll have lots of opportunities to memorize.Secondly, I would say that the majority of women go through life without people yelling at them and being expected to yell back, getting hit or hitting someone else or otherwise being told to be angry or aggressive. I think this was actually the biggest adjustment I saw with the other girls in my platoon. The best example is probably the bayonet course at the beginning of boot camp. Many of the girls were very timid about hitting a rubber dummy then, let alone stabbing it with a knife on a stick but if we'd done it at the end, I'm pretty sure there would've been forty women screaming like banshees while attacking with bayonets. And if you're asking because you went to boot camp on the West Coast, if there were hills on Parris Island, we would've been climbing those too.

What is marine corps boot camp like?

I really want to know the routine and the type of exercise that happen in boot camp. Like how many miles do you have to run each morning, pull-up, crunches? How can I prepare for the mental pressure? Pretty much I want to know all the hard part in Marine Corps boot camp so i can be more prepare.

Do female recruits (in the Marines) get female drill instructors in boot camps?

They do. Female DI’s for females, and male DI’s for males. And Boot Camp is separate. All male and all female. No mixing.
