What is selfish?
I’d say that selfish behaviour involves putting oneself first at the expense of others. We all do selfish things from time to time, but I spare people of the selfish label unless they do it consistently.Some people behave selfishly in conversations- the other person has a problem, but aren’t allowed to express their opinion because the person behaving selfishly must have it worse every time. Sometimes, a person might do this once in a while in the wrong mood. I know I’ve done this myself from time to time, more when I was younger, but I’m more aware of this now.Then there’s the form of selfishness that involves a person lashing out because they have a problem, at a person who has nothing to do with or no control over the problem. I know people like this, and they’re the worst of people. These are people who might be abusive, be it verbally, emotionally, or physically. People around this sort of selfish behaviour can get hurt and feel trapped. They become physically and emotionally damaged from the other person’s behaviour. This is the ultimate form of selfish behaviour as I see it.An example of a selfish person is one of the roommates at my boyfriend’s house. This lady stole all the toilet paper we bought, multiple rolls in a single day “mysteriously” disappeared from the bathroom (I have a missing 50 dollar gift card I’m worried about). This roommate NEVER buys anything that is shared, she only takes from others (I don’t think she even buys her own alcohol). She also never takes her turn to clean the bathroom we all share despite being the messiest one in there, almost burned me with her hair straightener today because she left the cord hanging in the doorway with the damn thing on somehow, neglects her chihuahua by leaving it in a crate wearing a diaper for 12–14 hours a day so she can party (I’m seriously considering calling whoever deals with animal abuse, that poor thing cries all day sometimes, and I can’t even focus on my headache because I’m just pitying the poor thing. Don’t they need to eat more times a day than that?), and on top of that she owes over 3 months in rent to the landlord which I don’t think she’ll ever pay. This is a prime example of a selfish person. And I don’t like selfish people…

Why are republicans so mean and selfish?
Because they feel that they are the only people who work for a living and have morals. The reality is that many who preach Conservative values have had mommy and daddy pay for their education, apartments, cars, etc... They are often raised in families with money and receive large inheritances to help start businesses (ex: Dubbuya) and forget that there are middle and working class folks who bust their backs everyday to pay bills. It's easy for Conservatives to criticize people that are not born with silver spoons in their mouths! On moral values- Rush Limbaugh and viagra, Tom Delay and his fine crew, and Rev Jimmy Swaggart and his sex scandal... Need I say more!
