How can I find my computer Brand, Model , Memory , Processor?

Download the trail version of Everest from

Use it to generate a report and send it to who needs to know. Also installing memory is VERY simple. Google or Youtube search and you can do it yourself and save some money.

Most likely your memory is DDR-2700 or DDR-3200, if you buy a stick of DDR-3200 it will also work with the others if they're 2700 or lower.

EDIT: System Information will NOT tell you the type of memory you have, which is important for someone who is going to be adding more to your computer.

Way back in the mists of time IBM PC compatible processors were given merely numbers and letters to denote their architecture and extensions. Things like 286, 386 and 486. Intel developed these chips, but licenced their design to other makers such as AMD and Cyrix. But Intel couldn’t trademark the 486 moniker because it was more of a description than a product name. You can’t make a V8 engine and trademark it as “V8” for similar reasons. Intel may have gotten away with “Intel 486″ as a trademark, but the US Patent Office rejected attempts to trademark 486 alone. What this meant is that many people were buying Cyrix, AMD, et al processors, and thinking they’re all the same thing. Generally these other companies looked to compete by offering cheaper lower quality processors than Intel. So in 1993 Intel had the idea of giving their processor offerings an actually trademarketable name: Pentium. AMD, Cyrix, whomever could still licence and sell Intel designs, but they could no longer sell them with the same name as Intel. From now on people weren’t just buying a 386 or 486 CPU that could be made by anyone, they were buying an Intel Pentium, or in many peoples perceptions, some cheap knock off. This strategy worked wonders. Cyrix was quite a big name in producing PC processors in the 80s and early 90s, now they’re virtually unheard of in that sphere. AMD clung on by innovating it’s own designs built on top of the x86 architecture (we have AMD to thank for backwardly compatible 64bit processors with the AMD64 architecture that even Intel uses today) but Intel’s market share grew much larger.Pentium remained Intel’s premier product through to the Pentium 4 series that shipped from 2000 to 2008 when Intel shifted to it’s “Core” series as focus shifted to multi-processor-cores.Today Intel’s premier consumer products are sold under the Intel Core branding as i3, i5, i7, and the newly minted i9 processors. The Pentium brand still exists, but is aimed more at budget computing, sitting between the low end and embedded processor brands of Atom and Celeron and the Core i-series.

Download a software called CPUZ/CPUID, just google it and download from the first link. Install it and you can get all information regarding your CPU including RAM ,its frequency etc.

When you are in the store purchasing a computer, the description of the computer usually tells, either the brand and name of the cpu being used or it will state how many cores it is, like dual core, quad core, six core sometimes it will list both and other times nothing.AMD ONLY!If a computer states that it has an AMD quad core, that does not mean it has 4 physical cores, rather it has 2 physical cores and 4 logical cores. This is the same for all AMD cpu’s not just quad-cores.INTEL ONLY!If a computer states it has Intel quad core, this means it has 4 physical cores and 8 logical cores.Hence why the prices of AMDS are cheaper than Intels.Throughout my search when looking for a new computer, most of the cheap ones that I encounter saying that they have intel pentium or such usually means that those computers are single cores.Another great way to be certain is lookup the name of the cpu or the computer to find the cpu then google search that cpu and you will find all the information that you need, for example,A computer states it has Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ.a google search gives us this info.If you choose this option…If tells you everything you need to know about the CPU, how many cores and where it stands against others.Hope this helps. Also most stores have computers that you can use to do your research as well so feel free to do so.

My current rig is Andromeda....Because this is a pretty cool thing to name your computer after, right?But... that's not why....It could have something to do with the fact that my poor desktop is chained to my desk, much like Andromeda (mythology) ... I've always been one for classic mythology... and I do consider my computer to be a thing of beauty... but I'm not so much for damsels and the whole chained to a rock thing just doesn't do it for me.No... I'm geek enough that I like to name my computers after computers from science fiction and movies... so while I could say that it's named after the ship from the TV show Andromeda:Because, much like the ship, my computer is fairly powerful....The reality is that it's named after the ship's AI: Who was pretty darned awesome.
