What Is Objective Criticism

What is Objective Criticism?

It is not personal by the person offering the criticism. It is not influenced by the persons personal beliefs who is doing the critiquing.
Ex. ' I know how you feel and I feel the same way but its the law/rules here and I have to enforce those laws no matter how I feel.'

What does Objective Criticism mean?

Objective Criticism is a criticism out of pure love. There is no good reason to criticize other than a love which has a honest intend of wanting something better for the person we criticize, and there is no reason for the person to receive criticism if it is not done in love, for why should a person care about the opinion of another who does not care about his well-being?It is very rare that criticism is truly objective, for so often it is hard not to look negatively at flaws and people who makes mistakes. This is why there is good wisdom in the Biblical advise of expressing love before and after criticism is given, for if criticism is personal or selfish it can not be objective. So a second point about objective criticism is that it has to be given out of a love both for truth and for the person criticized. For if we do not love truth too, then we can not see things objectively. It is very hard to do, for giving objective criticism means we have to keep out all personal emotion related to the criticism given and put the love of truth and the person above any personal gain or desire for retribution. Good question!

How objective are movie critics?

I’ll respond briefly on this due to a bit of frustration I’ve had with so-called movie critics.Without a doubt we can say with a resounding yes, movie critics let their personal views affect their observations of a film. The proof? Now, set aside any feelings you have about what you believe to be the message inherent in this story. Can you do that? If you can, you are lightyears beyond what movie critics have the ability to do.According to Rotten Tomatoes this movie has a 10% positive rating by critics. 10%. To put this in perspective, Jaleel White (of Steve Urkel fame) has as his lowest score on Rotten Tomatoes at 14% for the movie Dumbbells, which had about the same budget as Atlas.Criticisms of Atlas Shrugged included poor CGI, poor plot (not sure what this means, the plot driver was the novel itself), and using the success of Trains and Train Companies as the main plot driver. All of this is from the source literature and created with a measly 1 million dollar budget and some truly excellent acting.Every single review summarizes with critiques of Ayn Rands philosophies….why? Why in a movie film about conservative ideology must I hear the response from movie critiques about their liberal ideology? There are countless articles written decrying Rand in every way possible, why can’t they just critique the film on true merit? An aside, my wife who couldn’t care less about politics, philosophy, or economics watched the movie with me in the theater and enjoyed it immensely. Critics absolutely cannot leave their baggage at the door.

In hospitality, would you accept objective criticism from someone who has plenty of experience in that area?

I would, but then I have been in hospitality most of my life and understand that I will never know it all, or even get close to it all. Hospitality moves forward very quickly and is near impossible to keep on top of on ones own.I have worked for too many people though who absolutely will not accept objective criticism from someone else who has very considerable experience in that area, namely me, or anyone else for that matter. Sadly there are a lot of hospitality business owners who have come into the industry from other sectors and believe that because they understand business in general or knew their sector well that they automatically know what will be best for their hospitality operations.Hospitality is an incredibly diverse, complicated, sensitive to economic and local changes, fast changing and fad susceptible, legally and regulatory complex, financially challenging and above all damned hard work industry to be in. You really do have to be a Jack of all Trades to be able to be even mildly successful and further, to be much better than that, you need a team of people with differing knowledge and experiences who are prepared to listen to each other. Many of my compatriots may feel different about Hospitality, but after more than 25 years in it, I finally quit and went to do something else. I miss it, yes, but I don’t miss many of the idiot owners who think themselves miniature Gods of infallibility.

Would Muhammad be able to cope with objective criticism of his own religion if he was alive today?

sure. as long as he has followers he is protected similar to a politician or a monarchy, as long as some part of society support and defends your "reign" it is possible to tolerate the critics. and of course he would have to make sure he continues his public image of "perfect human being" and any sort of display of "insecurity" would be a PR disaster for the prophet Muhammad.

How can one remain objective when facing criticism of a group they belong to?

Being criticised by people that belong to the same group as you can sometimes not be the best thing that can happen to you given your emotional state. I suppose that this criticism is something that you have the habit of taking it too seriously. Well, given the “level of communication” that you have with these people, you should be able to understand that that kind of criticism is not always so severe and could possibly be just a joke. Of course that cannot always be the case because sometimes people tend to “cross the borders”. Well, in that scenario, you should see that it might be your view over the problem and the way you view things that sometimes can make you feel badly. So what could be the right attitude over these “things” ? The best and simplest ,but not always the easiest thing to do is to ignore that kind of behaviour. Apart from that, given that the criticism is severe, a more direct approach might be the solution to your problems. By clarifying to those individuals that you do not see that kind of behaviour as positive, you make it clear to them that you do not want the previous to happen again. Sometimes we transmit wrong messages to the rest of the world given the stance/attitude we have. If you take all these steps and still you do not see any changes in their behaviour, dumbing thone people might be your last resort. Besides, you deserve someone better as a friend. The way we perceive the world can sometimes be too subjective. As a result being objective is something difficult. By taking the steps above you ,in a sense, avoid taking things too seriously and you try to make things better for you without being too “dragged” in a conflict . All in all, when taking things personally/too seriously you become too subjective , concerning your point of view. When you remain calm/neutral and try to look at the whole picture, you adopt a very different approach.

What is constructive criticism?

In Favour:It is aimed at helping you improve, not insult. It helps you identify people who really care for you.It helps you identify the negative or weak points. It makes you objective and listen to feedback without a bias.It is almost always accurate.Against:It needs a matured mind to receive constructive criticism objectively. It needs an even more matured and seasoned mind to deliver constructive criticism without being too aggressive or sounding insulting. It makes the receiver too conscious about the weak points and scared of potential failures. Sometimes its good not to know your negatives and just sail through. It is only partially helpful. Because you're only being told what's wrong, not how to fix it. Its like telling the pilot that your engine is faulty but not how to repair it or survive.People almost always refrain from giving it because they're not sure if the receiver will get offended or take it objectively, and then repent why they didn't say anything if their fears are realized.

Does objective criticism is always useful in any activity, or not?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but I do believe that objective criticism is pretty much always helpful, especially when the person who's doing the criticizing is qualified to do such.
