What Is Sleep Debt Exactly Is Oversleeping A Good Thing

Sleep deprived, then way overslept, now feeling weird?

We were finishing up the semester and I've been getting at most 2 hrs of sleep for the past week, been chronically sleep deprived (including weekends) for about a month, and most recently, pulled 2 all nighters in three nights. When I finished yesterday I came home and fell asleep at 5pm, and slept straight through until 1pm today (20 hours). Now my hands are trembling and I can't stand up or hold my arms up for very long. My mind is more awake but my body is pretty numb and it takes a lot of energy to walk and stuff. I feel extremely fatigued. Is this from oversleeping? And is the best thing to do just to stay awake? Will it just kind of wear off?

How do i feel more awake after oversleeping?

Staying hydrated will help immensely. Eat a healthy meal when you wake up to get your body going

One thing people don't realize is sleep debt builds over time. So once you tap into it, your body would love to just keep sleeping (so long as conditions allow and your mind isn't racing with things to do) to pay off the 'debt.' Or depending on what sleep cycle you woke up in, it can keep you in that fog all day until you go back to sleep. I found a natural supplement that helped me with my stress levels/sleep/focus if you're at all curious...throw me an email and I'll give ya the info I got on it

Is oversleeping bad for you?

Sometimes I enjoy getting another hour or two, who doesn't! But occassionaly I'll have days were it's very difficult to just get out of bed. I'll sleep in from my regular 11 am to 1 or 2pm! I feel very dissoriented and still tired! I literally have to drag myself out of bed. Is it good to get more sleep or can it be harmful in some way?

Why am I oversleeping so much?

I'm 15, and since summer vacation has started 2 days ago, I have been sleeping A LOT. Am I just in sleep debt, because I did have little sleep, or is it something more? Could it be a delayed caffeine crash? I do have lots of stuff to do, and it kind of sucks how I've been sleeping so much and wasting my daylight time. Could you help me out here - what's the reason for this and how can I stop oversleeping? Thank you! :D

Can a human get ahead on sleep by sleeping for fifteen hours for two days in a row?

Im not a doctor! ;)Simple answer why you couldn't tho is because you brain/body need to repair itself each day, and oversleeping 15+ hours would throw off the process.Oversleeping is super bad for youWhatever the amount you need, you should be getting it consistently each night :) so going to bed at 12 am and waking up at 8 am 7 days of the week.

Can oversleeping cause dark circles under eyes? WILL CHOOSE BEST ANSWER!!?

Hi im 17 and i work at a call center and i come home at about 1 am and i usually fall asleep around 3am and i wake up around 2pm so if you count that that's about 11 hours daily and I have dark circles under my eyes and some kind of sunken look i would've posted pics but i cant upload them.. But anyways does oversleeping cause dark circles? or is it because i should be going to sleep earlier like at 10 pm? Is there anything i can do about this? thanks for the help.

Does oversleeping make you gain or lose weight?

It's important to sleep enough. If a person sleeps less than 7 hours a day, that is considered sleep deprivation and that person might become sick easily, gain weight, and numerous other problems.

On the other hand, if you sleep too long, your body goes into starvation mode which is bad as well. With the first meal you eat your body thinks it needs to store all possible energy as fat for future starvation.

An optimal sleep time is around 8 hours (give or take).

Why am I sleeping up to 14 hours and still waking up tired (I'm 18)?

Why do we feel ill when we oversleep?

This might be overstepping my area of expertise, but I asked the same question of a neurologist once during a dinner party (she was genuinely surprised that I live and lived off 4h sleep since high school and didn't believe that I was able to sustain that lifestyle into my 30s. I was, and am, so take her answer with the same grain of salt). She explained that it's largely a rapid drop in blood sugar after eight hours of sleeping that leads to the "oversleeping hangover". Your stomach is empty, your blood sugar is low, and over the past few hours your body has been operating on lowered levels of oxygen. This leads to an overall slowed down metabolism with difficulties jumping back into action as you get up since no "fast fuel" is available. She recommended drinking a large glass of water and eating some fruit on getting up to minimize that.
