What Is Something That Feels Good Going Down Your Throat

What doctor should see if I feel I have something stuck in my throat or esophagus? ENT?

That is a very good question,The ENT doctor will evaluate your ears, nose and throat, where a GI specialist can evaluate the esophagus into the stomach and beyond using endoscopy and a camera to visualize problems, and the little scope end has tools on it if something needs done there. ENT doctors also use scopes, usually up your nose and into the back of your throat to your vocal cords. Depending on your illness or symptom history, when it occurs, what you are doing at the time, and if you can point to the offending area, will decide who it would be est to see. Many times your PCP will refer you to the specialist that they think may show something abnormal. They would put you asleep for the endoscopy in the GI lab with an anesthetist giving you a rapid on and off anesthesia that goes into an IV. You should not remember anything of the test or procedure. For the ENT doctor, they just squirt a numbing spray in, and down your nose and put a small scope down and it is over in less than 20 minutes. The endoscopy takes a little over 1–11/2 hours and then you are recovered from anesthesia. You need to bring someone with you to drive you home, but the tests are not horrible. The doctor may give you results there, or give them to your PCPs office. Since I do not know which body system is involved, many more questions can be asked to pin the diagnosis down for a better result.

Why do I always feel like something is stuck in my throat?

Please ,please dont expect people on Quora, especially non medical ones to be able to tell you what’s going on. Ethical and safe doctors do not diagnose from a distance (except for properly organised telemedicine ). You cannot diagnose without a proper history and physical examination. Without a diagnosis no one can offer treatment.I can think of many things that could cause this, some are not serious-just a nuisance and easily managed- and some could be extremely serious-like neurological problems. If this is bothering you then you should see your family doctor and possibly be referred to an ENT surgeon who has the ability to examine you properly.Im not being protective for doctors. I’m trying to get the message across that Quora is not the place for diagnostic questions about personal medical problems. It’s dangerous.

Is it wrong to make yourself throw up even if you feel like you are going to be sick anyway?

Ethically? No. Medically? Usually it is fine. If you feel as if you’re going to throw up, don’t try and suppress it; it’s your body’s natural instinct, and you won’t feel better unless you do it. But if it takes more than thinking about mayonnaise ice cream or naked grandma, then don’t force it. If you have to put your finger down your throat, it better be for a good reason, like poison, and even then I’d call poison control and see what they recommend before doing that.

Feels like food stuck is stuck in my throat?

Yesterday I was eating breakfast trying to hurry up before I go to work. Then later on I started feeling like food was stuck in my throat. I can breathe just fine but it feels like it's stuck right in my throat and it's uncomfortable. How do I get the food to dissolve and go down. And is this something I should be worried about?

I feel like tablet stuck in my throat, what should I do?

If you do get a pill stuck, I want to leave my answer here. I just had this happen to me and I scoured Quora and didn't find much help...An hour ago I took a small 10mg pill and it lodged itself in my throat and would not move. I could breath etc, wasn't choking, but I felt it sitting there. Here's what I did to unlodge the pill...the exact order:I drank tons of water, couple of water bottles...Damn thing didn't move.I ate food, hoping to push it down...again, didn't move. While standing, I tilted my head back and let the water go towards the back of my throat before swallowing...this moved the pill around. The pill moved while in my throat, but didn't go up or down...it landed near my gag reflex. I then vomited out all the contents of my stomach...and the damn pill still didn't move!!! Can you believe that?!?! (sorry if this is TMI)Laid down on the floor with a mouth full of water and then swallowed it. Laying on the floor will relax the throat muscles and open up the parts of the throat where pills can get stuck. (Some ppl have small crevices and pills will tend to get lodged there).I took another pill (Tylenol), thinking it would push the first pill down. Nope, still felt it.I drank Coke. Figured the acidity would help the pill to dissolve and slide down. I think this worked somewhat. It seemed to get softer, but still didn't move.I started drinking hot liquids (tea).I sat down, grouchy, and played Candy Crush trying to figure out what to do next. At some point I swallowed...and it was gone! Ok, so I don't know what actually worked, but the damn demon has either dissolved or I was able to swallow it. I think it's either one or some combination of the last 4 things I tried. That thing was lodged in tight. I hope my experience can help someone else, because I didn't find a lot of help on here when I looked.I recently just saw another Quora user (a Registered Nurse) said that tilting your head back when you take a pill constricts your throat. She said when taking a pill, tilt your head downwards, towards your chin. She said it works every time...though it sounds scary to me.

After I use nasal spray (Flonase) I can feel it go down my throat?

I have had bad phlegm now for a few months and I finally went to the doctor a few weeks ago and he prescribed Flonase. He wasn't sure what was wrong with me, but he guessed it was allergies. I have been taking it for 2 weeks now and a minute after I use it I can feel it all slide down my throat. Is this normal? I think I may have a post-nasal drip?

What do you think? Should I tell my doctor? I'm 20 by the way and only developed allergies this year. I have always had sinus problems though. I get at least 3 sinus infections every year.

Thank you.

Fingernail stuck in my throat?

Most likely after two days the nail has already been sent down to your digestive tract. What you are experiencing is abrasion/irritation from the nail (they are very sharp and can cause lingering sensations of this sort).

For instance I've swallowed pills wrong before and think that for days they are caught in my esophagus. Its just a sensation from irritation, once again.

Why does soda burn my throat when I drink it?

The carbonation in soda is a primary ingredient (without which it may not be called soda). This is carbon dioxide dissolved in water. This forms carbonic acid, which is a weak acid responsible for the tangy taste and also for the slight burning feeling when going down your throat. Some sodas also have other acids added such as Coca-Cola which contains absorbic acid, also adding to the flavor and burning feeling.
