Insurance on mini cooper?
I pay $100 a month to insure my Mini Cooper, but I'm 32 years old. You will be charged a lot more for being a teenager. Driver's ed and a decent GPA will help, but you're still probably looking at insurance payments that will be at least $200-$300 a month. If the Scion is a cheaper car, it will cost less to insure than a Mini. We don't buy Minis cause they're cheap. We buy them cause they're awesome.

It is not as simple as age & gender = price.This is the real world. Deal with it.

For some people it’s about showing off, but for others it really is nice to have slightly more comfortable seats and other amenities when you have to drive an hour or more per day to a job that makes these cars affordable.Tangential to #1, if you get into a car accident that is your fault it is unlikely you will be able to afford to repair the car by yourself with income that would be available to the average 16 year old. If you would not repair it you will still be paying the bank for years, if you’re parents repair it for you, it will be an unjust burden to them.If you plan to go to college, this vehicle will become very difficult to pay for when you have to work a full time job while you attend classes in order to pay for just your car. If you’re parents are going to pay for your college AND they will take over responsibility for your car note then it is still demonstrable of your level of privilege despite the fact that you pay for it now. Would a 10 year old BMW be a good starter car for a 16 year old?
Well, the 97 325i was the last year on that chassis. So what that means is, that it was produced from 1992-1997, therfore, all the major glitches from earlier models were taken care off. But maintenance wise, its going to be expensive. A timing chain/belt on a 92-97 325i costs $1,265 A timing chain/belt on a 97 civic costs $185 \The bmw is going to cost twice as much for insurance then a honda, its going to be twice as much for gas, and triple the cost of routine maintenance. The cost to insure this will be much higher then the cost to insure a honda. The reasons why: Its considered a luxuary sports sedan. It has an inline 6 cyl engine It has moderate safety protection Just because something costs more, doesnt mean its any better. Theres not even a question when it comes to honda being more reliable then a bmw. Hondas are probably the most reliable car sold in america. I mean if this car was for me when i was 16, and i wouldnt have to worry about maintenance/fuel/insurance costs, hands down id take that bmw. But if i had to chose between a 325i and a honda civic for my child, without a doubt, id be buying that civic.
Mini Cooper as a first car?
I will be 16 next week and therefore am looking for a first car to drive. If possible, I don't want some typical mundane civic or something that every other person drives, and I think the Mini Cooper is the perfect option. Reasonable price, good company (my dad has a BMW, which makes minis, and its amazing), good mileage, and of course cute and stylish. But I need two things, 1) a way to convince my parents that its the perfect car and 2) opinions on it as a first car. I haven't completely made up my mind so any advice or suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks! And a best answer will go to a truly helpful response, should there be one
