What Is The Average Fee For A Tutor Around A University Area

How much money (average) can a tutor earn from online tutoring?

I have been tutors for several language sites, but amongst all, PopOn is one of the most reliable site. Not only they have high flexibility in working hours and clients, their rates are pretty nice as well, up to $60 per hour. For your question, It depends on how much time are you willing to commit to it. I gain averagely USD$100–$150 per week. Hope you find this helpful:)

Average cost of a tutor?

Your experience and credentials influence the cost. Also what are you bringing to the table? Is it your materials and photocopies or are you supporting the student with existing assignments from a class. If you are prepping all the lessons you can get more. Also, just advice from experience . . . create a cancellation fee so that they know they have to pay 50% of the rate if they cancel with no notice. When I was not doing the driving and the student was coming to me, and when I was not preparing all the materials, I got $20 per hour. I also had a degree in the subject I was tutoring.

How much should a 13 year old tutor charge per hour?

$10 is probably a good start. It's right at the point where people won't think it's too expensive or that they're ripping you off. Many people can't afford tutoring and $10 is a great discount from $35-$60. Still, be flexible. You can also use this when you apply for college. Admissions counselors are very impressed by social service.

Whatever you do, don't try to negotiate. If you suspect a person won't want to pay $10, first try asking how much they would be willing to pay you, then decide if you want to take it or ask for a little bit more. People don't like to feel that they're being hustled. Asking one price, then lowering it sounds like you were trying to take advantage of them from the beginning (like a car salesman). That's not the kind of character people look for in someone they trust to spend time with their kids. Remember, working for a little less might be worth it to gain experience, respect, and good references!

When you approach parents, make sure to be very professional. Carry a copy of your report cards and letters of recommendation from your parents and teachers in a profile. Draft a resume detailing the tutoring experience you've had and the skills and characteristics you have that make you a great teacher. Compare your prices to the prices of the pros and point out that you're not just a tutor, but a great role model as well. People will love that!

Good Luck, young entrepreneur!

How much should a Math tutor charge [Algebra]?

In my area (SF Bay Area), math tutors charge rates that depend on location (teacher's home, school, student's home - increasing price for each), distance the tutor must travel for the student, how full the tutor's schedule is already, how experienced the tutor is with the student's type of needs (e.g. do you have lesson plans prepared already? how about homework?), etc. Typically, for tutoring at the student's home not too far from the tutor's location, at convenient times for the tutor, you would see rates of $25 to $80 per hour in my area. Craigslist is a good source for information on what people are willing to pay and what people are charging.

How much should I charge for Physics tutoring.?

I am 16 and in IB Physics Higher Level with a 100 avg and someone in the regular physics class who isn't doing so well asked me to help them out. I'll be meeting them at a local library for an hour. In my area, teachers charge $70-$100 per hour and students charge $15-$25 per hour, so I was thinking that $20 per hour would be a good price compared to the "professionals" without cutting myself short. It is quite a wealthy area and parents are very willing to spend $100+ on teachers for tutoring. Does anybody have advice for me?

How much should I charge for private tutoring?

It depends on where you are, it varies greatly. In LA County the price can be half or less in one area than in another. Search http://www.craigslist.org/ and see if they have listings in your area.

Also, talk to people in the area with kids and see what they're being charged, and call tutoring facilities and ask what their charge is. You should also make sure you're comparing to a tutor with a similar education.

We live in a nice area in LA and tutoring here is $65 an hour through an excellent tutoring facility, for test prep and other subjects. The tutor is a CalTech grad. I know college students who tutor and they charge about $25 - $40 an hour, less if they're tutoring the same student several times a week.
