What Is The Best Computer To Do Virtual School

Virtual home school? GOOD or NOT?

Here is what I posted about another question that was almost identical to this one, except it was asked by a parent:

"Now, I have a very strong preference for independent homeschooling over virtual school... but since you are getting the same "socialization" responses all homeschoolers get, I thought I'd answer and tell you not to worry about the social aspects. The people who think that kids studying at home don't have friends and spend all their time sheltered from the world don't have a clue what they are talking about.

As virtual schools go, I have heard that Connections Academy is a good one. Like I said, I prefer homeschooling independently, but if used correctly virtual school can give your child a very solid education."

Of course the above was actually in reference to another question, and so far you haven't gotten the "socialization" responses, I'm sure they will arrive soon though...

I also happen to know that students who enroll with A Beka often get into colleges without any problems at all. It is an accredited school with a very strong track record of turning out advanced and capable students. Bob Jones I don't know about, but most colleges don't discriminate based on religion, instead they look at SAT scores and other things like that.

How can I run a program on my school computer?

No.It is like that because your school doesn’t want you to run your own programs on their computers. Strictly speaking (assuming you are in the USA, UK or an EU country) you could actually be breaking the law by trying to circumvent the security of the computer.I do hope that no-one here gives you advice on getting round the security restrictions. If there is a program that you really need to run on a school computer, and you can’t run it on a hosted virtual machine, then you need to talk to your headmaster/principle about why that program is important to your and your studies.Good luck ( and please - don’t jeopardize your school career).

What is the best online (virtual) class provider for AP Computer Science A?

Without a doubt, I suggest starting with the EXLskills AP Java course here: AP® Computer Science A (Java). It takes you from the very beginnings of what is java, all the way through topics like recursion, searching, and sorting. There is also an abundance of auto-graded FRQs and MCQs on EXLskills. I self-studied for the AP Computer Science exam using this curriculum and got a 5/5. The course is available there for free, however, if you need to talk to an expert, you can also sign up for premium (definitely recommend IMHO) and ask questions via chat. All the instructors there have deep Java knowledge and are familiar with the AP CS A exam. Once you get connected with an instructor, you can also do live sessions there with video, screen share, and voice calls if you want to go beyond chat. Unlike, the various edX or other free disparate courses you might be able to find online, this is the only site where – to the best of my knowledge – you can actually get your questions directly answered by a real human in just minutes on average.EXLskills also runs live group classes online with Q&A for Java, Python, GoLang, and the AP CS A exam, so definitely sign up there and you should receive notifications for those courses when the next cohort is available for registration.Best of luck with the AP CS exam — you can do it!

Florida Virtual School?

Yes, you can but I think you have to pay. Why don’t you check out the site they have all that info on there or call them? Advantages= You can work when ever you want were ever you are and you have people to help you 8 am to 8 pm. Disadvantage: for some people it hard because its not the same as having a teacher explaining things to you face to face it works fine for me though.(Flvs.net)

Florida Virtual School Computer Programming courses?

I am senior in high school looking for good online, college credit, courses for computer programming. Florida Virtual School is offering 2 courses, Computer Programming I and AP Computer Science A. Can anyone give me any feedback on these two? Are the good courses? I have very very little experience in programming. If I take the AP one, will I have hard time for the AP Exams or does the course prepare you well. If I take the normal one, will I still learn good programming, because the video example of the course kinda looks childish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6-g6YiM70Y&feature=player_embedded.

I am going for Segment 2. I don't know it might just look like that for the video. But that's why I need help.

Any feedback on anything related to Florida Virtual School's computer programming courses and assessments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

How are Florida Virtual School AP courses?

Hello,

I have previously taken a course through Florida Virtual School (FLVS), however, I have not taken an AP course on Florida Virtual School. I'm considering taking AP Computer Science A on Florida Virtual School.

If you have ever taken an AP course on Florida Virtual School, please answer the following:

1. How, when, and where do you take the AP test once you finish the subject.

2. How much more difficult are AP courses on FLVS than regular courses (I found the regular courses easy, and passed Honors Pre-Calculus with a 99%).

3. Are you required to pay for the AP Test or is it payed by FLVS or the school?

Thank you very much!

Homeschooling with Florida Virtual Schools?

Florida Virtual School is a great opportunity to learn more and work according to your own style. Go to the website and have a look at their curriculum, they have a lot of classes to offer depending on what you need to take. If you are serious about wanting to take a class with them, go to your school councilor and they will give you all the information you need.

I completely recommend it but I do need to say that it is not for all people. You need to be self motivated and skilled in teaching yourself. The teachers can help but they have 50 other students too so you cannot be dependent upon them.

Hope that this is a help to you and good luck. :)

Is the Georgia virtual school good?

Georgia Virtual School has excellent teachers, and they are always happy to assist any student who asks for extra help. Since you have a good work ethic, you would probably do well in the online environment of Georgia Virtual School. In addition to taking the course online, you will have weekly, live online review or learning sessions with your teacher. If you cannot attend the live online sessions, you can always listen to the recordings.

Whether you attend live or listen to the recordings, you will need a computer with Java enabled and will need speakers. It is also nice to have a microphone or headset, but that is not mandatory.

If you plan on taking a course with Georgia Virtual School (GAVs), it is very important to complete the Student Orientation Course that precedes your course. The orientation course takes about 2 hours to complete and teaches you how to navigate the Desire2Learn (D2L) platform that is used in GAVS courses. Your GAVS course will not appear on your D2L platform until about 24 hours after completing the orientation course.

Communication with your online teacher is also the key to success in a GAVS course. If you don't understand something, contact your teacher immediately. He or she will get back to you within 24 hours (not including weekends).

Regarding the math curriculum, do keep in mind that the Georgia Board of Education is now thinking of allowing school systems to go back to the old math curriculum of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, analysis, calculus and/or also allowing some sort of blended curriculum of the old math curriculum and the new.

In either case, if you want to be an engineer, you should also be thinking about your science courses. You should definitely take physics, ideally at the AP level, or at least at the honors level.

Good luck.
