What is the best waterproof spray for boots?

I want to make the 5.11 tactlite coyote boots somewhat waterproof just incase i step in a puddle or something. Ive heard both good and bad things about the Kiwi camp dry stuff.
I know these boots arent best for wet conditions and I know they make a black waterproof pair but i do really like this boot, and i dont want a black boot.

What's a good waterproofing spray for denim?

"Oilcloth is heavy cotton soaked or coated with linseed oil to make it semi-waterproof, which is what sailors and cowboys used for slickers, hats, coats, tents and bedrolls before the invention of PVC. The painstaking process is described here: http://www.moscowfood.coop/archive/oilcl... and here: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_mak...

Other options include making modern oilcloth by impregnating your jeans with vinyl, but the result would pretty much be a table cloth texture.

I would suggest you purchase or make a pair of jeans out of 1000D coated nylon such as these: http://store.motorcyclegearshops.com/ite...

What is the Best Waterproofing Spray for Canvas Shoes?

I just colored a design on some canvas shoes with fabric marker and I was hoping to waterproof them with a spray. Because I used a lot of color and detail, I am looking for a clear spray (nothing that will get white or cloudy). I'd also like to be able to buy it online. So what is the best spray?

Is spray paint waterproof?

Are you asking if you spray paint (SP) something it will become waterproof? The answer isn't as simple as it might be. If you were using the common SP rattle can and are trying to rustproof metal or perhaps weatherproof wood, then the proper preparation of the surface along with meticulous adherence to the instructions will provide the best chance for preventing water intrusion. Since preparation and application varies widely there are no guarantees though. If you are asking if the film itself is waterproof, again, it depends on the paint formulation and how many coats you are using. Some paints are water soluble and some paints are water resistant but if water gets UNDER the paint due to poor application or bad preparation then it isn't the paint's fault.

Any recommendations for a waterproofing spray for blankets?

I have tried multiple "waterproofing" sprays to recoat my horse blankets. I can't recall the brand but I picked waterproofing sprays vs. water resistant sprays. Usually they'll keep the blanket waterproof for a month, then I'll wash/dry, and recoat. This year I used the same product as the prior year, but sprayed early on in warm weather....three coats. The blanket was soaked through after about one week (and this is not constant use, just putting the blanket on at night when it's under 35 degrees rain/snow/clear). The blanket was originally waterproof but after about one year it had lost it's factory coating.

Any suggestions on a product that will work?

What is Textile Upper fabric? Is it waterproof?

I got a pair of boots for christmas that at first looked suede, but the label said textile upper....If they aren't waterproof, are any good waterproofing sprays, etc?

Does waterproofing spray actually work on tents?

Yes, it does work, but make sure to read the label to ensure the spray doesn't negate the effects of the tent's flame retarding and that it won't generate any unhealthy gasses or unpleasant odor after drying.

I suggest sealing your seams first so the sealant can soak in properly before spraying with waterproofing. Otherwise, the seam sealer will not penetrate and will peal off easily.

Is silicone used for making waterproof fabrics?

Hey,Silicone, because of its inherent composition, is used in making fabrics and is combined with fabrics to enhance the fabric’s functional quality. Silicone does make a fabric more water / moisture repellant which brings it quite close to being water proof. It also brings a kind of softness, structure and more age to the garment in addition to being also heat resistant. hope this answers your query
