$10,000 for a home recording studio. What should I buy?

Ok so I plan on spending $10,000 on a home studio. Not all at once but over a short amount of time. I plan on getting a Mac Pro with a lot of upgrades which will be $4,700. I will be getting Pro Tools at $250, Reason at $400, an SM57 at $99 . I already have a synth that doubles as a midi controller and I have rack effects processors and the Antares Vocal Processor. I would like to get an interface with at least 8 plug ins but I don't know what kind. I plan on recording and making all types of music. So what all should I get with the remaining $4,450?

Which are the best microphones for recording a song in my studio for under 5000 INR?

Possible competitors in the usb category would be samson c01u pro or a CAD GXL2400..usb microphones aren’t supposed to be the best when it comes to recordings as there are certain limitations to the microphones..xlr microphones on the other hand make a huge difference but will also burn a hole in your pocket since they are a little costlier than their usb counterparts..you’ll have to buy an audio interface and a phantom power as they don’t work without these devices..but you will definitely see the difference..for those with a tight budget, I’d recommend you to get a behringer c1 or a samson c01 and an audio interface or a mixer to go with it ..a behringer audio interface with phantom power would cost around 5k..

How much does it cost to set up a decent home recording studio?

Of course, the cost depends on how advanced you want your equipment to be, but note this: even if you have really high quality and expensive gear and a multimillion-dollar facility, it pales in comparison to how important the actual skills are required to make a great recording or mix.Basically, your knowledge and skills are more important than the equipment you have, so you can even make a home recording studio for as low as $1,700.If you don’t have the skills, maybe it’s better you hire a professional recording studio that can arrange, record and produce all your music for you.I had an article published in Ditto Music about setting up a home recording studio on a budget, and you can read it HERE, but I want to highlight 5 most important things you will need.1. COMPUTERI recommend Mac Book Pro, iMac, or even Mac Mini (or any of the PC equivalents—although most of creatives in the music business use Mac).2. DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATION or DAWYou can use Apple’s Logic, which is the choice for most songwriters, producers, and musicians who are just getting into the game of producing, recording, and mixing. There are other options too, like Avid’s Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Cubase, Reaper, Fruity Loops, etc.3. AUDIO INTERFACEUnless you’re planning to use only virtual instruments (VIs) and samples in your productions, you’ll need an audio interface. Audio interfaces can be as cheap as $100 or can climb into the thousands of dollars. I recommend on the lower end the Scarlett 2i2 (~$150) or on the mid-range end the Universal Audio Apollo Twin (~$700).4. SPEAKERS (MONITORS) & HEADPHONESYou can buy some decent monitors for as little as $400. Yamaha HS5s or KRK G2 5s are great for getting started. Yamaha HS8s are becoming an industry standard and you can get a used pair for as little as $600. As for mixing headphones I recommend the Beyerdynamic DT700s.5. MICROPHONESYou’ll need a microphone in order to record vocals or any other acoustic instrument. More than likely, you’ll just need one microphone. The Rode NT1A is a great choice. If you plan on recording a stereo source, such as a piano, drum overheads, stereo room, etc. either buy an additional mic to match what you already have, or you could buy a stereo pair.Below is the equipment for a sample budget recording studio:Mac Mini: $699Logic Pro: $199Scarlett 2i2: $149Tracking headphones: $29Rode NT1A: $229Yamaha HS5s: $400Total: $1,705

What is needed to start a music recording studio business.?

You do not NEED a degree, it never hurts. But you have to research there is so much in this business, I've been to recoding studious that where a computer one board & a closet w/ insulation.
So if you have the passion go for it. Google recording studio equipment call the companies that sell them.Go to some local ones by you, see what they have, tell them you want to record & want to check out there layout. Try & get a job in one to learn the ins & outs, remember you are there to learn not earn.
Best of Luck

Did you get all of your used recording studio equipment, from eBay?

No, but I got some of it from eBay.I got some of it on Reverb.com.At least one computer that I bought to record with was from a trash recycler.Other things were purchased in music stores like Music go Round. It can take a while to figure out what you want, check the new/used prices, and get everything you need.I thought I needed a mixing board. You might or might not. I am used to using one. So I shopped and got a console that was $4000, when it was new in the 1990’s, but was selling for only $400 today.Cheap condenser mics are easy to buy and generally work well. MXL, M-Audio, CAD, EV, Shure, Blue, Sennheiser. They can all be had for reasonable money. And of course when I started out there was no such thing as software. And now software is cheap too.Biggest advice is make sure your computer can handles what you want to do, and that can be costly. And headphones and speakers should generally be purchased new ( though most of my speakers are used)

What is the difference between a recording studio and a record label?

A "recording studio" is business that owns a facility with the microphones, recording equipment, and sound processing equipment that is used to record a song or album, and they charge money for the use of that facility.

A "record label" is a business that finances up-front costs for studio time and other costs associated with making the recording, and then promotes and distributes those recordings in return for a cut of the money that is made from selling the song or album.

It's not uncommon for a record label to also own the recording studio where the artists that are signed to their label record their music.
