What Is The Best Used Car For About $10 000

What is the best used car under $10,000?

As of 2018, the best used car overall you can get for under $10K is 2001–2003 Lexus LS430. You can easily find one with < 100Kmiles within your budget. Those cars are almost indestructible, with supreme comfort, nice power and unsurpassed reliability. You can try to get slightly restyled 2004–2006 LS430s with slightly nicer styling and upgraded 6-speed automatic transmissions, but it will take more time to find one with less than 100Kmi under $10K.The other choice will be more surprising to many people, as it is 2003–2006 Mercedes-Benz W220 S-Class sedans and CL-Class coupes. They look almost the same as 2000–2002 but they have been revised to address many reliability issues. Keep in mind that these cars cost more than $80K new so they have depreciated a lot.You can readily find one under $10K, with 80Kmiles or less. They have bulletproof M113 engines which are very reliable. There are some issues you have to look for, such as smaller oil leaks and air suspension problems that can be costly to repair. Also take a look at engine mounts, as big MB V8s like to eat those. They are about $500–1k to replace.Upon checking those and with little luck, you can end up riding around in great style and comfort for less than $10K, shaming many much more expensive newer cars.Should you be looking for an SUV, a great choice is 2002–2005 Mercedes-Benz W163 ML500 with the same M113 V8 engine as the S-Class. They are just slightly detuned for ML500. They are well known for durability as people drive them for hundreds of thousands of miles, including many Mercedes mechanics who like to drive them themselves. It is harder to find one with under 100Kmiles, but it will be well under $10K. Check for smaller oil leaks, also including 4Matic all-wheel drive components. Inspect power steering as that can be troublesome and expensive to repair. Look for detailed maintenance records and regular oil changes. They are built like tanks, with unusual body-on-frame design with fully independent suspensions. Go and find one, and you will end up with a great Mercedes-Benz SUV on the cheap.Good luck and have fun!

What would be the best used car for a 24 year old with a $10,000-$15,000 budget?

Yeah I second the Toyota vote, those cars are bulletproof! But something else to consider, do you really need to spend that much? My brother recently gave us a 2000-model car as it still worked fine, but was probably only going to fetch $1000 if sold.To my surprise, the car is really good! It has a nice stereo he put in a while back with Bluetooth. It has these really comfortable fluffy front seat covers. Power windows and mirrors. Honestly I’m really happy with it.All I’m saying is it might be worthwhile checking out some cheaper cars, you might find they are perfectly fine for you, and you could end up saving $5–10k or more. Really, a car is just to get you around. If you can do that for less, all the better.

What’s the best “first car” for new drivers around $10,000, new or used?

Truthfully, the cheapest car that has, four good tires, good antilock brakes, airbags, 4 cylinders, a good safety rating, working speedometer, lights and tail lights, seatbelts, and runs. I’ve bought “first cars” before. A wrecked car is just as useless as a more expensive wrecked car (I’ve never been in a car accident). Insurance will be cheaper, gas will be cheaper, and less money will be spent. Most people don’t star my taking actual car of their car for years after driving anyway. You may think “oh little Timmy or Suzy will be much more appreciative of a new car or love me more” but that’s for the first week or two. They will be blasting music, texting, and trying to get in the backseat after that. Yes, your kids are not the angels you see them as. We’re you the angel your parents thought you were.I saw a rich girl wreck three expensive new cars her junior year. 2.5/3 accidents were her fault (one accident, the other new driver girl missed the stop sign too by not seeing the big red octagon). So the fourth car was a beater she had until she got another new car for graduation. It seemed like everyone who had a less than desired automobile in high school m, had it through graduation, and most new cars, didn’t seem to be around for that long.Doesnt have to be a high schooler either. There was a 22 year old that worked for me that saved up for a couple of years to buy a relatively newer Ford Mustang convertible. He would try to burn out and loved to show off, drive fast, but seemed otherwise like a good driver. He was driving one day after about three months of driving, when somebody without insurance, sped up to make a yellow light, but ran a red light while turning left and smashed into his car, turning right, totaling both vehicles. Glass and debris hit his face because the top was down. He was physically okay, just cuts and bruises. Financially not so much. Instead of paying for a cheap used car in its entirety, he was making payments. He didn’t have gap insurance and he put down a down payment, but he bought the add on gimmick stuff and, well, he worked for at least two more years to pay off a car that he wasn’t driving, before he could even start saving to purchase another car.So yes, think with your head, not with your heart. Safety, cost, ability, then desire should be the right order until safe driving habits are learned and the driver is comfortable. After all, anything can happen, but the odds are worse for new drivers.

Which used car can you buy for $10,000 or under that barely depreciates?

The answer is to buy something at the bottom of its depreciation curve. A car sells for a certain amount new. It will then depreciate for 15–25 years. At some point, enough of the originals have been junked, and interest in them is high enough that surviving examples begin to appreciate. I experienced this with my ’83 Mercedes 300D. I bought it in 2005 for $800. I had to do a bit of work on it to make it a reliable daily driver (more than I paid for it, but I liked the car, so I did it). In 2013, I was in an accident that wasn’t my fault. Insurance valued the car at about $2500. I elected to keep the car and put the proceeds toward needed body and paint work. Today, despite the branded title from the accident, it’s still worth around $2000, which is still 2.5 times what I bought it for. So, if you want to make depreciation a non-issue, start with a car that’s about 20 years old.

Best Luxury and Sporty Car (Under $10,000)?

I am about to sell my current car (Expedition) and buy a new car. I have done some research about what would be most practical (price/mpg/comfort/equipment wise), but I can't seem to come to a conclusion about which car to look into and test drive.

What I need (from most to least important):
- Sporty performance (manual)
- Reliable (No bad history of engine issues or tranny issues..etc.)
- Comfortable ride for daily commute
- Low cabin noise
- Decently equipped (with tech such as optional premium stereo, memory seats..etc.
- Decent MPG (as long as it's better than the Expedition [V8 5.4L gas drinker].)
- More than 2 Seats (least of my worries since I commute alone.)
Above all, the car has to be under 100k miles with $10,000.

I've looked into cars such as:
- G35 coupe
- BMW 3-series (330ci or 325)
- Acura RSX or TL
- Lexus IS300

But these are definitely not the best choices, I am open to ANY car body types as long as they are small. Please let me know if you have any experience or suggestions!!! Thanks in advance!

You have a nice budget and a nice range of vehicles to choose from. I'm a little on the practical side, so I chose cars that are either sedans or large coupes. There are plenty of other options, so happy hunting!
