What Is The Best Way To Get Blonde Highlights Out Of Your Hair So You Can Dye It Dark Brown

Can you put a box hair dye in blonde highlighted hair?

Yes, you can, but be careful. It depends on how dark your natural color is and how heavy and blonde the highlights are.Haircolor is designed to be used on hair with color in it. Highlights can lighten hair to a point where there’s very little, if any, natural pigment. If you have light blonde highlights, the color you add must contain gold (two parts yellow and one part red). Level 6 light golden brown. It it’s not dark enough, you can do it again. If it’s too dark, you’re in trouble.Use a deposit only with 10 volume. No need to lighten. The color may grab on the blonde hair. Especially on the ends. Always apply to clean damp hair. If you’re hair is really toast, put a little conditioner on first.See my video, Why Apply Dry, When Wetter is Better.

Can I do hair highlights with a platinum blonde hair dye instead of bleach?

Technically the answer is yes, but only under certain conditions with certain products. There are some incorrect answers below, so let me clear some things up on this question.Firstly, I would not recommend using a store-bought dye. Hair dyes do not contain bleach. That is simply untrue. Bleach removes color pigments so that would be antithetical. However, any home-kit for turning hair platinum probably contains either (a) bleach or (b) a color with a high-volume developer — both of which can damage hair and expose underlying pigments. In other words, you will damage your hair and turn it orange unless you already have light blonde hair. I have clients come in all the time who have done this, and I have to re-bleach their hair and color it to the proper shade of blonde.Secondly, using professional hair color (preferably at a professional salon) you can use what are known as “high-lift” blonde colors or “special blondes.” These colors are high-ammonia blondes meant to be mixed with high-level peroxide developers and will lift and deposit in one step. These colors DO NOT contain bleach. *HOWEVER* they are generally only meant for hair at levels 6/7–10 (dark to light blonde). If your hair is dark brown or black these colors will not work, and your only option is using bleach to lift pigment out of your hair. You then need to “tone” the hair (color it) with a shade that will cancel out warm tones and turn it platinum. To cancel out yellow tones, you need to deposit small amounts of contributing violet pigments. To cancel out orange tones you need to deposit small amounts of ash or blue pigments. A professional colorist can determine the right course of action for you. In most cases, you can schedule a free consultation. The colorist can determine if you qualify for a high-lift platinum color, or if they need to bleach your hair and then tone it to platinum with a custom-mixed color formula.

Bleaching highlights on dark hair?

Bleach is all the same. But you will probably need 40 volume peroxide to remove the black color. It is very hard to remove black hair color and there is not telling how it will lift. The problem I'm sure you will have is that you have not colored it black for awhile. So your root area will be way lighter than the rest of your hair.
I would redye the black. Then highlight for the most even color.
Use the bleach and 40 volume.
Don't under process or it will be too orange. Adding heat will help lift the color.
But make sure the bleach is not exposed or it will dry out. (thats one reason why we use foils!, but a plastic cap can help also). You can buy them where you buy your bleach.
Also pick up a toner, or semi-permeant color. Something light (level 9 or 10) with cool tonal value like purple, blue, or ash. It will help the blonde look blonder since you are sure to put warm from all that dark dye. It will not effect the rest of your hair so just comb it in all over. Watch it carefully and rinse when you feel it look blonde enough (no longer than the time on the bottle say too).
Hope I was more help than confusing.

I dyed my hair black 6 months ago. i want to do blonde highlights now. would it be OK and would it work????

I had my hair black for 2 years. I kept maintaining it and re-dying the roots. NOTHNIG dyed over it. I tried putting in some highlights. It didn't even touch the black, you couldn't tell I did anything. I had to grow it out, and then I cut the black off. I dyed it with a rinse and you could still tell the portions at the bottom of my hair that were still black that hadn't been cut off. I heard that even stripping the dye out is hard, but I'm pretty sure that's the only thing you can do.

Do highlights damage your hair???

When you get highlights, it is permanent, so when your hair grows, you will see your roots. If you want to cover your roots, then yes you will have to keep highlighting. If you don't like the highlight then you can just dye your hair back to match your natural color. On dark auburn hair, a honey or caramel highlight would look pretty and wouldn't look as harsh as bleach blonde would. Highlighting your hair is bleaching it, so yes that is damaging, but they have special color care shampoos now to help restore the processed hair. Good luck, and if you decide to do it, get it professionally done!

What happens if you dye highlighted hair?

Where your hair is blond will be lighter, black darker and red lighter but darker than where the blond was. It will probably look pretty cool!!

I dyed my hair black from blonde, and I hate it. How can I lighten it up without bleaching my hair again?

I had this same problem.  I've been colouring my hair black for the past year or so but wanted to go back to blonde (my natural hair colour).  But I did not want to a) fry my hair and b) walk around with an orange head!So what I did is this:First step: I went to the hairdresser to add some highlights to my black hair.  The highlights came out a somewhat "goldie" colour and simply lifted the black a bit, yet it did not look too intense, especially after a few washes (as it would have if I bleached my whole head).  So I could still go out in society without looking like a clown.  LOL!  Second step: I waited 3-4 weeks (to give my hair time to recover)Third step: After 3 weeks I put hair colour remover to my hair (NOT the type which has peroxide in it - the type which only removes hair colour).  I don't think the product matters that much - as long as it does not contain peroxide.  Also, go for one that says maximum strength.  The colour remover made a big difference and lightened the black areas to a golden brown colour, while the highlights remained in tact.  So at the moment I'm not yet fully blonde but I now have golden brown hair colour with highlights.  My next step is to wait another 2-3  weeks and then add some more colour remover (or, alternatively, go back to the hairdresser and add some more highlights) to lighten it up even more. The reason I did the highlights first was because the colour remover does have the effect of giving your hair a slightly orangey tone.  But that is counteracted by the highlights (which stays in tact even after using the colour remover).  I also added some toner to my hair to counteract the orange.I think no matter what you do, if you want to lighten your hair from black, you will end up with orange/golden tones so the key is to change it mildly, step by step so that it won't look too intense.
