I also have a 2000 civic and that i think of your speaking with regard to the mild that comes on and you stick you key into the little slot good close to it to teach it off. If thats the mild then it is basically a Oil substitute/maintenence reminder. It turns from eco-friendly to yellow to pink. i've got faith it takes 7500 miles to teach it from eco-friendly to pink in spite of if it is basically to remind you that an oil substitute is due. interior the instruction manual Honda recommends which you adjust the oil each and every 7500 miles. maximum vehicle enthusisats/mechanics have faith this must be executed each and every 3000 miles in spite of if. each and every time you adjust the oil only stick your key interior the slot to reset it then you relatively know once you may desire to alter it back.

Miles you can drive after gas light comes on???
You could have easily made it another 3 miles. ABC news did a light hearted story about this (because some people even made YouTube videos). It turns out that you can go about 50 to 60 MILES on the hwy and about 1/2 that on the street driving. It doesn't seem to matter much how big or small the cars were. My Audi empty light came on, yet the onboard computer said that I still had 20 miles (street driving). All of them errors on the side of safety. === You figure it makes sense because on some roads (like NJ turnpike) some exits are 20 miles apart (or more). So empty light does NOT mean it is empty (you don't need that, if you would run out in minutes anyway). It means get gas soon - real soon. Good Luck...

According to the Honda owner's manual, the fuel tank capacity is 13.2 gallons and when "low fuel indicator light" shows on your dashboard there is 1.9 gallons remaining. For example say if the price of regular unleaded gasoline that is currently like $3.559 per gallon, and say you fill up soon after "low fuel light indicator" comes on...since one should never risk driving it empty...according to math below: if you pumped in 13.2 gallons minus 1.9 gallons = 11.3 gallons x $3.559 price of regular unlead = $40.21 The fuel economy the Honda Civic is decent and you should realize that a heavier vehicle like the Honda Accord would get even less say 25 miles per gallon and probably has bigger fuel tank and costs more like at least $50 to fill up. These consumption numbers contain a figure for city traffic, one figure for highway traffic and one combined value. The low fuel light in my Mercedes C-class diesel comes on with the gauge a little above empty, typically with the trip computer showing around 90 miles on the remaining fuel. At that point I can, if I try really hard, squeeze about 55 litres of fuel into it which does indeed tally with the makers claimed tank capacity taking into account the number of litres that the distance remaining corresponds to. Note that it’s very important not to let a modern diesel car run dry hence I’m assuming Mercedes have deliberately set it to warn “early”.My wife’s Honda Jazz has a tank that’s unusually shallow and wide (imagine a very shallow, square, tank almost the full width of the car). The float in the tank which drives the gauge can’t actually measure the fuel level below a certain level so the trip computer just guesses at what’s left in judging by the average fuel consumption on the rest of the tank. This means that if you don’t reset the trip computer when you fill it up the fuel warning can be wildly wrong. I’ve arrived at the petrol station with it telling me that it would do 1 mile on the fuel remaining but only been able to put in three gallons less that the tank capacity, which is enough to take it more like 145 miles. This was when we first bought the vehicle, secondhand. Judging by the readings on the trip meters the original owned had never, ever, reset the computer. We have always done so hence we’re able to get more miles out of a tank, but there’s still at least a couple of gallons it in when it’s saying we’re at the “20 miles left” point.

I'll bet you don't even know what an O2 sensor is. It's the O2 sensors that have a direct input to the engine management computer for maintaining proper fuel mixture ...air to fuel ratio. The O2 sensors have a normal service life of about 60-75K miles. They are like spark plugs in how they "fail" ...very slowly and over a long period of time. Sometimes a failed O2 sensor will put the check engine light on ...sometimes not.Get you car into a good reputable shop or the dealer and have the problem taken care of ASAP. And yes, it will cost money. Probably going to be an expensive repair. I'd earmark at least a grand ...O2 sensors are expensive and you may end up needing the cat replaced. Prepare for the worst ...be happy when it turns out better.
