The answer is definitely yes, though I am having trouble with the "why" part as well. Might have something to do with the fact that,
C6H8O6 --> C6H6O6 + 2H+ + 2e- and the hydrogen ions react with the dissolved oxygen to form water.

University of Chicago Gen Chem sucks. Hope I didn't just raise the lab average...
