What is the difference between MOOCs and "traditional" eLearning?

In my experience here are four distinctions:1) You often pay for traditional e-learning.  Most MOOCs to date I think have been free.  2) Most MOOCs are based in universities (and used for marketing & innovation). *3) MOOCs tend to be similar to a typical university term.  E-learning can theoretically be a one off, although many certainly do have education over time so that learning is builds and is re-enforced.4) Student/Teacher Ratios.  MOOCs are generally pretty big…at least those on Coursera.  E-learning classes might only have 10 or 75 versus hundreds or more.* In terms of 1 and 2--Coursera and others are experimenting with other models….that are revenue producing I believe.

What is the difference between e-learning portals like Udecity, Udemy and Coursera?

Rahul,They all got different value propositions for both learners and instructors. A learner must have clear objectives to know what is more beneficial to him.Very evident that their pricing models are differentUdemy being cheaper relativelyCertificate Recognition is higher for Udacity, CourseraMentor / Instructor help is provided ocassionally on Udacity. They are at provider levels. I will suggest to look at course level with a consideration to what your objectives are. That will be more helpful than look at such generic differentiation.BR,Jagadish.Search Thousands of Best Online Courses from Top Providers
