What Is The Difference Between Seretide Evohaler And Seretide Diskus

What is the difference between seretide evohaler and seretide diskus?

There are two different systems due to differing reasons.

1) Evohalers can be used for both asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). The Diskus (or Accuhalers in the UK market) tend to only be reserved for COPD patients.

2) Ease of use
Whilst Evohalers are slightly easier to use, the Diskus exists because it doesn't need a lot of inhalation power to get into the lungs which is very advantageous for COPD patients. The reason why is because in COPD patients their ability to inflate and deflate the lungs becomes very difficult if the disease is progressing quickly (unfortunately lung function lost in COPD can never be reversed only halted).

3) Different strengths and doses
The main difference between the two inhaler types is that the Evohaler is usually two puffs twice a day, whilst the Diskus/Accuhaler is one inhalation twice a day.

Hope this helps

How do I get my dad to understand that I urgently need a purple Ventolin?

I have asthma. The purple ventolin is not actually ventolin; but is actually Seretide for Asthma. It is not a rescue inhaler but is a long term maintenance medication. It does not help with asthma attacks; it helps your body over time not to react to your asthma triggers. It needs to be used daily to maintain its effectiveness.Ventolin itself is a brand name for albuterol sulfate which is a rescue medication for sudden attacks; it is not sold in a purple applicator. These are brands of albuterol sulfate (rescue inhalers) and their applicator colors — they all contain the same medication but are made by different pharmaceutical companies:Ventolin Redirect NoticeProAir Redirect NoticeProventil Redirect NoticeSalbumatol Redirect NoticeVenteze Redirect NoticeAnyway Corey, you said in a comment that you could not comment anonymously like the original post and that you are in your twenties…an adult. Take yourself to the doctor and get a prescription. One of your other Qs said you suffer from acrophobia I have acrophobia of clear spaces and my Dad is trying to force me to go overseas. What should I do to convince him to not take me.?I'm guessing asthma may not actually be your issue; but I'm not a doctor (which is who you need to speak with if you have actually been diagnosed with a medical condition that requires a prescribed medication). Not sure why your father has so much control over you if you are in your twenties. Maybe that's something that can be discussed in another post.

Can I take Seretide if I have cough but no asthma?

Most coughs are caused by a bronchitis, an inflammation of the airways, so in theory using anti-inflammatory meds e.g. inhalation corticoids would help.  But that would be off label, and I doubt if any doc would be willing to prescribe it to you.And we should always check if having a persistent cough was secondary to using meds e.g. ACE inhibitors because then we would need to stop taking those meds.Having a seriously asthmatic son in our family, so we all have such corticosteroid plus long acting beta agonist  inhalator around our house for him to use if needed if he were at our place, both our MD daughter and I who both when having a viral upper airway infection tend to cough a lot (bronchitis), although usually not wheeze, use these inhalators to combat the cough, we think with success (N=2...).
