The human body has many mechanisms to moderate energy intake and use both up and down. It should be challenging to gain or lose any significant amount of weight. Becoming obese should be almost impossible to do and in a more natural environment it would be.However, we are not in a natural environment. We are in an environment that is filled with stress, doesn’t allow us to sleep and recover, doesn’t encourage sunlight and fresh air, keeps us plugged into a 24 hour bad news cycle with no way of resolving any of it because its not meant for us, keeps us stationary, pumps us full of caffeine, encourages more shallow relationships than we are wired for with fewer meaningful ones, encourages either a lack of activity or a full on blitz of crushing exercise, and encourages us to eat garbage food.For someone to become obese, their system has to be under extreme stress with almost no room for recovery. Today though, what our body deems as extreme stress is just normal life.We’re not just obese. We’re anxious, depressed, perverted, and hiding. We’re at each others throats, we’re self important, and we’re masters at self-medicating.Further, we’re so out of touch with our bodies that we don’t even recognize thirst the majority of the time.It should be very hard to become obese but the environment we’ve created for ourselves encourages it.

I become fat over a period of two years.I already had bad habits during high school. I never did strenuous physical activity on a regular basis. This is when my weight gain started gradually.My eating habits have always been terrible. I have never eaten anything other than starch and grease and fat.My weight shot up during freshman year (the freshman 20) and has been slowly increasing ever since. I think my metabolism has slowed down significantly after puberty.Food has been a crutch for boredom and dealing with unpleasant emotions for my entire life. Learning to address these things without food is difficult.

How do people become so obese?

Some just don't care...others are too busy to take notice. Do you realize how fast weight can creep up on you? Especially if it's distributed so well that you don't notice how much you're carrying? Growing up, i was always tall...i wasn't very active, i didn't eat a ton but what i ate wasn't very healthy. I gained a ton of weight without really noticing because with my height and the natural distribution...it just looked like i was a healthy type of curvy. Everyone was surprised when i went to the doctor, got weighed and i was 220. Which yes, was obese for even my 5'11 height. I just didn't realize all of it packing on. After that though, i got to work. I had lost 50 pounds. Then i got pregnant and gained 40 back. Now, after having my son...i'm back at it again and have lost 20 so far. I'm looking to get down to 150-160.

The point is...some people just don't pay any mind to it. Which really isn't the greatest. But there's always so much going on in life that people are looking for the most convenient ways to get through the day and most of the time, it does wrong by them in the long run.
