What Is The Finalvalue Percentage Fee Charged By Ebay

How does eBay charge the final value fee?

When you sell items, you get money into your PayPal. For example, lets say you sold a game boy for 29.88. So then that money goes into your PayPal. Leave that money and don't go spending it, because eBay takes a small percentage. Then when you buy something, you confirm your address, payment method, and the amount. Then you login to your PayPal and boom. You paid for your item and the seller will ship it to you.

EBay Fees Being Charged Twice?

I was wondering if this is right.

I am an eBay powerseller, I sell things everyday. Ebay charges a final value fee of a certain amount depending on the price of the item. For example, my item is $10. If I sell it, eBay sends me a deducted amount of $9.60. And then they put that deducted amount in my seller account balance that is due to be paid at the end of the month. So my question is, why if eBay has already deducted the final value fee from the money they are giving me, why am I again responsible for paying for the fee a second time when its in my balance. So if eBay sends me $9.60 that means the final value fee is 40 cents. So I get $9.60 and is responsible again for paying the 40 cents, but eBay already sent me the deducted amount. Clear this up for me.

Ebay Final Value Fee?

Aashish,

The Final Value Fee is always calculated on the actual final winning bid amount or the Buy It Now purchase price that closes the auctions.

Hence, the FVF in your case will be (5.25% of the initial $25.00 ($1.31), plus 3.00% of the remaining closing value balance ($25.01 to $1,000.00 = ) ($2.25) and will calulated on the $100.00 sold price $1.31 + $2.25 =$ 3.56 FVF.

If your item is canceled on eBay do you still pay a final value fee?

It depends on who cancelled and why.If eBay cancels a listing— usually because the listing is found to be counterfeit or something that is not allowed— the listing fee stands. If eBay cancels in the course of ending the seller’s account (NARU) the selling fee stands. And eBay has financial information on the seller to enforce this. The buyer, by the way, is on her own in getting her payment back from Paypal. If the buyer cancels (requests a cancellation, technically), the seller is not charged an FVF.If the seller cancels (for example, because the item is out of stock) he is charged the FVF and also gets a Defect. Defects can get a selling account closed temporarily or permanently. If the seller cancels an unsold listing with bids, the listing is deemed to have sold to the current high bidder and FVF are charged. If the seller cancels an unsold listing without bids (including cases where the seller cancels any bids BEFORE cancelling the listing) there are no FVF, but the listing fees still stand. And, if a seller wants to go on vacation and closes Unsold Listings for a couple of weeks, those go to his Unsold List for up 60 days. The listing fee is not refunded, but there is no selling fee.Simple.

Is it legal for Ebay to charge fees on shipping costs?

Ebay, can change their fee structure by proper notification. They are only required to give appropriate notice. That is a statement of the change and when it will take effect. Though you may not make any money on your shipping costs many people do. It is usually people who work around and abuse systems that cause changes.

Look at the listings. How many times have you seen an item that has a real value of ten dollars selling for 99 cents. Then you look at the shipping costs, the shipping is 20 dollars, for that item.

Actually, this will level the playing field so to speak. It also stops people from cheating Ebay out of rightful profits. You are an honest person suffering from a lack of integrity of others. Under the old system you might do a search for an item by price and have a hard time sorting out which identical item is cheaper when adding in shipping. Now when you do a search it will include shipping and the cost of the item so you know what the actual cost will truly be.

I don't know what type of items you sell on ebay. However, I know that in many instances people compete unfairly. So the reality is yes they can. They outcome is hopefully, more integrity in the market place. Will Ebay make more money with this probably. Are you going to add the additional commissions into your price, probably. So as a seller you may be in a better place after the change.

What percentage does eBay take?

eBay has many different fees. Way to many to write here. I recommend that you read this well-written article that explains how the eBay fees work:What Does It Cost You to Sell on eBay? - dummiesIf you're looking for an eBay alternative with a much lower fee, then I would recommend the Happeno marketplace. You find us here: Buy and sell everything | Happeno. You as a seller are only charged 3% per sale. That's it! No hidden fees or extra charges.

Why does eBay charge you fees if you cancel a listing?

In order to answer this question, it is important to understand the fees that eBay charges for the sale of products on their platform in the first place. There are three types of fees on eBay that include insertion fees, final value fees and listing upgrade fees:Insertion fees: These are the fees that are associated with listing a product on the eBay marketplace. The charge depends on the category as well as the number of categories that you want to list your products under. The insertion fee is non-refundable. If you have an account, you get 50 free listings per month. Store owners get more depending on which store they have.Final value fees: These are paid when you complete a transaction but does not have to be paid if you don’t make any sales with your listing. This fee is calculated as a percentage of your sales price as well as shipping and handling fees. It is also dependent on the category you listed your product under but for standard products it is 10%.Listing upgrade fees: These are fees that you pay in order to make use of extra features that eBay offers their sellers. The features include listings in two categories, listing designer to customize the design of your listing, subtitle for your listing, bold title for the listing and scheduled listings. So, if you cancel a listing the upgrade fees and the insertion fees will still be applicable (unless you did not make use of upgrades and you still have free listings respectively). In order to get a better overview of the fees that are associated with selling on eBay, I would recommend the use of automated product and market research platform from Algopix. Next, to detailed expense breakdowns, this solution allows you to retrieve market prices, sales performances, demand levels, and the degrees of competitiveness. Based on this data you can develop smart product placement and pricing strategies that will allow you to optimize your sales.

Do you get charged a fee if you end an eBay item that already has bids?

You don’t get charged a fee that I’m aware of, but it is heavily frowned upon. You can get a bad reputation quickly and when you list an item iyou can cancel without any problem before a buyer placed a bid. But once there’s s bid is considered a contract or agreement and eBay can take away your ability to sell if you do it repeatedly. I have heard it’s better to just take the hit if it’s not getting the bids you hoped for. I no longer list low and hope for a high smoubt of bids as most people “snipe” and wait till the very end to bid and there is even software that does it for you. That prevents the price from rising during the run of the listing so buyers get things cheap. I just list at the lowest price I’m will to accept now. If it’s an item you have a sentimental attachment to then maybe it’s worth the negative strike against you. They warn you of it even when there are no bids but I have canceled plenty of those without a problem. I don’t think you get a financial penalty except you will still be out the listing fee. That won’t come back. You can revise the listing and price until you have a bid or until there is less than 12 hours till the auction ends. Once there’s a bid you can change a few things but not the price or other things that are promised.

Why did ebay charge me??!?

You should check your monthly invoice to see what the $9 charge was. However, when you sell an item on eBay they charge a listing fee, final value fee, and a final value fee on any shipping costs and the charges have to be paid by the end of the month.

If it wasn't the fees, I would go check the invoice and actually see what the charges were for. Go to your account and click on "summary" and on the right you will see "select invoice" and see what you were charged for. Other than that I would advise calling eBay about it. If you don't pay your fees, you account will be suspended and you cannot use eBay until you pay the full amount.

Does eBay have a minimum final value fee, that becomes significant on low dollar sale items?

Ebay has different fee schemes for different types of sellers and in different countries, but they charge a % of the total value of your sale. Some ebay sellers are also charged a fix listing fee (such as Etsy does, for instance). The latter is technically a listing fee, not a fee upon actual sale, which is worse for the seller. As far as I know, eBay removed the listing fee in most of their markets.Even if you are charged %, you may still lose money if you charge shipping at your cost, but this is of course something you shouldn’t do. In fact eBay offers the shipping rules manager to easily charge your preferred shipping and handling fee (with a markeup).PayPal charges (and used to charge when still part of eBay) a fix fee per transaction which used to be $0.25. Here is where your confusion may come from. Indeed most payment service providers charge a fix fee per transaction, so nothing extraordinary from PayPal here.Good luck, Guido
