In Windows 7 setup, after it reboots the first time, the system opens but it doesn't continue and says that files are missing. How do I fix this?

If your system won't boot into Windows, you'll need to boot from somewhere else—in this case, the installation DVD. Your computer should be set up to boot from your optical drive before your hard drive, but if it's not, you can always change the boot priority in the BIOS. When the system starts up, make sure you press a key when prompted to boot from the Windows installation disc. When you do, you'll see the familiar Windows installation language-selection screen (image below).Get to the Command PromptThe recovery tool we're going to use is run from the command prompt, which can (thankfully) be accessed through the Windows installation disc. To get there, don't click Install Now in the middle of the screen, but instead click Repair Your Computer in the lower left.Click Next on the first menu that pops up.The next menu will have two radio buttons. Make sure the first one is selected, and note that in the text box, your System drive might not have the drive letter C. If that's the case, make a note of the drive letter used. Click Next, and on the following screen (image above), select the bottom option, marked Command Prompt.Step 3: Scan Your SystemFinally you're ready to scan your system files for errors. To do that simply run the following command:sfc /scannow /offbootdir=[DRIVELETTER]:\ /offwindir=[DRIVELETTER]:\windowsSubstitute the drive letter you noted earlier for [DRIVELETTER]. There should be no square brackets in the command (image below).Windows will now attempt to find and repair any errors in your system files. If the scan finds errors, you may need to repeat the steps in this guide until it finds no more errors. To restart your computer, enter the exit command, then click the Restart button. When you're ready to try booting into Windows again, remove the install disc and restart one final time. Thanks,James

Upgrading from Windows XP to Vista or windows 7?

You cannot directly upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. I had tried this once and it said that I should boot from DVD and install a new copy of Windows 7.

How to boot Windows 7 from USB Drive?

I bought a HP USB drive yesterday to be able to mount a bootable image of Win7 to it to boot from a different computer.
My friend got me the iso and told me to mount it to a USB Pen, but I have no idea how! How can I? It needs to be bootable in the BIOS

Thanks

How do I dual boot Windows 7 and Linux Mint 18.3? I'm a complete noob by the way.

Stuff you need:Linux Mint ISOFlash drive or DVDBackups of all of your filesWindows recovery diskThe last 2 items are optional. Dual booting doesn’t normally go wrong (I’ve never messed up, even on my first time), but there is no harm in having backups if something does.First you need to acquire a Linux Mint ISO. An ISO basically compacts all of the files needed for an operating system into a single file. You can get one for free on the Linux Mint website. You need to check if Windows is installed as UEFI or Legacy. Open msinfo32.exe (System Information). Under System Summary, you’ll find a value called “BIOS MODE” It will say either UEFI or Legacy. You then need to use a tool such as Rufus (also free on the Internet) to put the ISO on your flash drive. Just leave the settings default, except the partition scheme option. If you use UEFI, it should be set that way. If you use Legacy, then it needs to be set to BIOS. If you are using a DVD, you can just burn the ISO to the DVD.This step is optional. You can do this later, but it is safest to do it now, Open the disk management program (it’s built-in) and find the C Drive. Right click on this and select “shrink.” (or something like that, I don’t remember) It might give you some message telling you to wait for a while. When it is done, you’ll get a dialog to shrink that part of the disk. Shrink it by around 15–30 (or more) gigabytes.Plug in the flash drive or insert the DVD. Now you need to turn off your computer. When it turns on, press F12 a few times. You should see a boot menu where you can choose to boot the computer off a DVD or flash drive. Pick whichever one you used. It will eventually boot to a Linux Mint desktopIf you don’t see a boot menu when pressing F12, then try doing nothing. Some computers might automatically boot from DVD or flash drive. If (a) doesn’t work, you need to look up specific instructions for your computer on how to boot from a removable device. At the Linux Mint desktop, you should see an installer app. Just use that and follow the instructions on-screen. If you skipped step 4, you’ll shrink your C drive somewhere in the installer.???Profit.If something was unclear, then you should tell me to clarify. Anyway, that’s all you need to do. Why is my windows 7 laptop too slow to start?

This can be due to different reasons. One of them is Virus , your pc can be affected by a virus which is making your pc to slow down. Try updating your Anti-virus and have a full system scan to ensure safety.Other reasons can be having low RAM and having too many startup services enabled. You can fix them either by getting a new RAM(you can also add with the existing one) or disabling the startup services. You can also uninstall all the softwares that you don't need anymore which may be consuming RAM in the background. If none of them works try installing the Windows again or consult a technician.I hope this helps.
