How to write a diplomatic letter to my aunt asking for money to help pay off my credit card debt?

I was young and dumb and racked up over $5,000 in credit card bills-including lending to friends who never paid me back as promised. I am 23, have since lost my job, and had to temporarily move back in with my father and can only find a part-time job as a cashier for minimum wage-not nearly enough even with a payment plan. On top of it, my father just announced he's selling the house to move to a small apartment so I'll have to get my own place. I have no problem finding roommates but am getting rejected for apartments due to my debt/ bad credit.

I am running out of options-cant get more hours at work and have no car so my options are limited as to where I can work. I've applied for second jobs locally to no avail. My aunt has a good paying career as a Nurse practitioner and her husband has a good job working for the government. She is my only option in my family that is fairly well off and could possibly help me pay off some of the debt. How should I go about asking her for help paying off the debt and what should I say? Obviously I don;t expect the full amount-but really anything would REALLY help. Also, I take full responsibilities for my mistakes but I have since made changes in my life, and matured and learned to be responsible with money and will be further able to enhance my future and job opportunities by cleaning up my credit to get my own apartment (with roommates) in the city.

That said- I would really be asking more for a gift than a loan as I doubt I'd be able to pay her back ad dont want to make promises i might not be able to keep like my friends did to me. What should I say to persuade her to help me while remaining diplomatic as her help could REALLY change my life as I've exhausted all my other options and might not anywhere to go when my dad moves (and he cant cosign-bad credit).

Should I keep all of my money in one bank account?

If you're writing from the U. S., your money is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). If your bank fails, the FDIC will transfer your money to another bank. The only change you'll notice is that your monthly statements have a different name. You won't notice any difference in your deposits and withdrawals. Your money is completely safe.

Many banks require a minimum balance to avoid monthly service charges. By accumulating your money in one account, you are more likely to meet that minimum amount, and avoid service charges. A single account also makes bookkeeping easier. You only have to reconcile one bank account each month.
