Northern Arizona storms tend to be short and infrequent and because it is a major interstate, I-40 is plowed and maintained very well, but it has occasionally been completely shut down for short periods by snow. I would not worry too much about it unless there is a storm expected while you are travelling and you are really paranoid about driving in winter conditions. Regardless, anytime you are travelling in Northern Arizona or New Mexico in winter it is a good idea to have a blanket and warm clothes in the car, ensure you have a good battery and (if possible) carry chains or have an SUV. Not that you will likely need any of the above - but better safe than sorry.
