What Is The Highest Point A Person Can Practice Flips Into Water Without Risking Serious Injury

Why did you join the military? For patriotic reasons? Or selfish reasons?

Some people join the military for patriotic reasons and because they want to serve their country.

Some people join because they know they'll get a chance to kill people and do violence and get away with it.

Some people just want the free training, free food, free clothing, free shelter, free college money, free medical care, plus a salary on top of that. They're tired of flipping burgers at McDonalds or they can't get a job anywhere else and they need one. Of course they'll never admit this. They will say things like "Yes, I want to serve my country! I enlisted because I'm a patriot!" but in reality they couldn't care less about that.

Public opinion and judgement makes it difficult for people to admit the real reason they joined. They could have purely selfish reasons or sadistic violence-for-pleasure reasons but they'll never admit it.

It's just like gays in the military. They are so closeted that if you ask "are you gay?" chances are everyone will answer negatively no matter how gay they are because they don't want their asses kicked or ridiculed and bullied to hell. Same with selfish enlisted people or people who joined only because they love violence and causing death and suffering. They are out there, but how can we know how many there really are? Only through anonymous voting... like Yahoo Answers! So... respond and be honest. No one is gonna track you down.

Overweight and and wanting to exercise?

I am very overweight, about 220 and only 5'2" and I would like to lose weight. I have changed my diet, cut down calories, elemented sweets and soda, drink more water, eat more fruits and veggies, ect. Now I would like to add in an exercise routine also. I have heard lots of good things about running, but was wondering if it is something I can do at my weight. I have never run very much before and when I tried I only made it like 2 blocks before I was worn out. I would really like to start a running routine, so is it possible for my weight and level of unfitness? Any suggestions on what I should do and how to start running? Or any other suggestions for exercising? Please give specifics if you can, like when, how long, how much to start, how much to work up to, ect. Thanks for you help.

How can I dye something black without clotheing dye?

Black shoe polish will rub off and ruin whatever you brush against while wearing the skirt. It's not worth risking your furniture and carpets. Anything that you use to color clothing, other than dye, will ruin the skirt. If you can't buy real dye, or buy a black skirt, you're better off skipping this project altogether.

If your skirt is already bad enough to throw away after a single use, then you can color it with paint or a permanent marker, but it will take much more time and cost more money than using dye, and the results will not look good enough to wear again except in a Halloween costume.

If your mother's problem with dye is only that she doesn't want you to use it in the washing machine, then you can buy a cool water dye from a crafts store, such as Tulip One Step Fashion Dye or Dylon Cold Water Dye, and apply it in a plastic bucket, following the instructions closely and stirring constantly.

You can't buy a cool water dye in the grocery store; you will have to buy it from a good crafts store. You can order excellent Procion MX dye from Dharma Trading Company online without using a credit card; just send them a check for the amount your order costs.

Up to what height, can you dive into water without injuries?

I believe that you can dive into any height of water without injuries. I'm not saying you should dive into a kiddie pool or a puddle, but if you can shallow dive, you should be able to dive in anything above 2.5 feet in height.

How do I do a backflip/frontflip? Is it dangerous?

There are already long answers here, so I will write a short one.You pretty much have to go to a gym to learn them. No way around this. Doing it at home will definitely result in pain. You need matts and maybe a professional trampoline.Backflips are way easier outside a gym than front flips. To do a front flip well, you have to run into it and get a proper jump (“punch”) off the floor. Gym floors are made for this “punch”; cement and grass are not.Backflips— significantly easier to do from a simple stand. Most people can't do a standing front flip because it is significantly more painfull on your legs and knees if done wrong. I can, but I was a level 10 gymnast (highest level of gymnastics).Flexibility doesn't matterAbove all- don’t try this at home (until you are confident and practiced)

Does dropping a toaster in a bathtub really work for suicide?

Just so you know, no one will buy the story that you were making your mother breakfast in a nice relaxing bubble bath for her birthday.

Probably not. The circuit path to ground isn't likely to be through the bather. Most people killed by an electrical appliance that falls into their tub are trying to catch the appliance to keep it from falling into the tub. Let it fall and get out of the tub.

And it wouldn't trip the breaker either. the resistance would still be high unless you're taking a bath in saturated salt water. Don't believe me… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lo_jLssjO... . Plugging a hot dog, which has the salt content of the dead sea, directly into an outlet isn't enough to trip the breaker. A GFIC would protect you fully.

Edit: More on the GFIC, which is a Ground Fault Interrupter Circuit. As the name implies, the GFIC only functions if a circuit has a ground fault. As Adaviel noted, the GFIC won't necessarily trip when the toaster goes into the tub. The current is still returning to the panel on the neutral because the resistence of the bath water is still high. High enough that less than 1/10,000 of an amp is going to ground through the plumbing. A person is free to plug themselves in as an appliance if they want to and they'll get the be-jiggers shocked out of them because they are not a ground fault but a load as far as the GFIC is concerned.

To modify my earlier statement: The GFIC would protect you fully if you are a ground fault.

@ Adaviel: Nice experiments. Nice post. I enjoyed that.

Why is wearing a seat belt an obligation? Shouldn't we be free to choose?

I have a good friend that really thought wearing a seat belt was a violation of his civil rights. After all, he was only putting himself at risk. If he gets killed “being comfortable” it was nobody’s business but his own.One day, on his way home from work, the A-Frame broke on his pickup truck. He lost control of the vehicle, which came to a halt abruptly when it hit a culvert on the side of the country road. Since he was not strapped in, he was thrown from the vehicle, and came down on the edge of solid concrete housing a drainage pipe. In an instant, he became a life-long quadriplegic. His earning capacity was shot. He lives on government money, with his wife having to provide 24/7 care for him. He cannot feed himself. He has learned how to switch TV channels with a sip-and-puff device, but he cannot sip-and-puff his way into changing his own soiled pajamas. He can’t wipe his own rear end. His kids, who needed his guidance, have had their lives upended. In short, it affected a whole lot of people other than himself. Your tax dollars keeps him alive so it affects you too.If you chose to put yourself at risk and had a debilitating accident as a direct result, one that would affect everyone’s life, could we just shoot you and put you out of all of our misery?Who in their right mind thinks like this? Buckle the damned belt.

Is it dangerous to drive with a bad wheel bearing?

A wheel bearing goes through several stages as it fails. First, you may hear a clicking while making turns. After that you may hear and feel a pulsing in the car, or a clicking while driving at low speeds. At this point, you MUST replace the bearing. It is extremely dangerous and you are putting your life at risk.A wheel bearing failure at high speed is one of the most fatal ways for a car to fail, so do not drive at high speeds until you can get the bearing repaired. On most cars, it will require a press or other specialty tools, so I would suggest taking your vehicle to a shop so that it is installed correctly. If you are familiar with the construction, function, and assembly of the bearing and axle it can be done at home.
