Can I take cigarettes in checked luggage at 16?

First of all if you smoke cigarettes and want to take some cheap cigarettes for personal consumption it's a big no for you. Since cigarettes smoking is injurious to health. You may have health many problems like Bronchitis, Low running stamina, breathing problems, cough, congestion, food choking, acidity, impotency and many other diseases and off course CANCER for sure. Now coming back to your question. If you are carrying them for some adults in that case you can carry up to 2 cartons of cigarettes I.e. 20 packs. However you can put both in luggage bag. This is much easy and unobjectionable. During scanning one would not know whose luggage it is. So it advisable to carry it your luggage bag instead of in your handbag since you are only 16. Also for whosoever you will be giving these packs to, make sure you ask him to quit smoking and share all the problem caused before getting cancer.

Why can I smoke cigarettes at 16(UK) yet I have to be 18 to buy them?

It’s just how the law operates in the UK.ENGLAND AND WALES — SALE OF TOBACCOIn England and Wales, there is actually no stated age to purchase tobacco — the age restriction is actually from the direction of tobacco cannot sold to what age. From 1933 to 2007, tobacco may not be sold to people under 16 under section 7(1) of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 (23 & 24 Geo 5 c. 12).On 1 Oct 2007, that age was amended to 18 by the Children and Young Persons (Sale of Tobacco etc) Order 2007 (2007 No. 767).Update:— “So why was the age raised?” — It’s to regularise things with the rest of the world and to help reduce smoking in the population.ENGLAND AND WALES — CONSUMPTION OF TOBACCOSection 7(3) of the 1933 Act governs public consumption of tobacco, and the minimum legal age for public smoking is 16.That age had not been amended by the 2007 Order — which is why you can smoke at 16 but not buy cigarettes until 18.Police constables (including uniformed park keepers) have the right to seize and dispose tobacco or cigarette papers from anyone smoking in a public place who appears to be under 16. How the constable or park keeper may seize and dispose is given separately in the particular policing body’s or park authority’s regulations.Update:— “So why didn’t the Order fix the age discrepancy?” — Fixing it causes unintended difficulties for tobacco sellers and law enforcement and opens the floodgates to legal challenges. It helps the sellers because in most cases it’s easier to distinguish a 16 vs. 18 year old than a 17 vs. 18 year old. Policemen could be challenged in court actions for confiscating cigarettes from a young-looking 18 year old if the statute didn’t say “who appears to be 16 years old.”Private tobacco consumption is unregulated — because frankly it’s near impossible to enforce. All the authorities could do to ‘regulate’ private smoking was to have legal smoking bans for certain types of premises and areas.Aside:— If the legislation did it the other way around — that is, set a minimum age for purchase and consumption — the law would then set it a right, and that’s not what the government wanted (and still doesn’t want).SCOTLAND AND NORTHERN IRELANDThe situation is simple. The minimum age for purchase, possession and consumption is 18 for both Scotland and Northern Ireland.

What is the legal age for purchasing cigarettes in Greece?

I know that anywhere will sell me them, but I'm at my luggage limit and thus will have to buy them in Duty Free at Thessaloniki airport where they will probably be a bit stricter with the law.

Legal age to buy lighters?

Wtf you can buy lighters at any age. Petrol stations are the best places to go for that.

What kind of shops sell cigars in the uk and wht is the legal age for smoking them?

It's 16, just like normal cigarettes and cigarillos.

Around here, there are a few smart bars and clubs that sell them - I know my favorite bar in the city center does. You'll also sometimes find them in supermarkets at the cigarette counter (though these obviously aren't the very expensive or smart ones) and wine shops will usually sell them, too.

If you want rare ones, try a cigarette shop. Our local one is in an arcade and called the Bear Shop - they sell everything from snuff to cigars! You could use a local directory - a 'Yellow Pages' - to find a shop near you.
