What German universities give admission through GATE?

Officially only Technical University of Munich (Technische Universitat Munchen - TUM) recognizes GATE scores in its application process as a parameter for judgement of admissions in its process. However you can provide a brief background about GATE in your application and then report your score in it by attaching  your score-card to showcase your credibility.German Universities do not give or give very less weightage to the GRE scores. But a TOEFL score is mandatory (preferably over 90) in all the German School applications. The TOEFL is the minimum criteria for all international applicants to showcase your credibility in terms of understanding English in all applications for European Schools. The universities select students based on their performance in the respective subjects for which they are applying Masters for and showcasing your GATE score is a very good indicator to show how well versed you are in the field you are applying your Masters in. In case you have good scores to show in your transcripts itself, the GATE score is not required. Schools across Europe are more concerned with how good you have been in your Bachelors Subjects and judge that based on your university's transcripts by creating an average credit score for all applicants. That is how their normalization procedure works. Adding up your GATE score only increases your credibility of your profile but doesn't affect the normalized score they set from your transcripts. The decision for your selection is then based upon the various parameters such as your SOP, your credit score and the preliminary work(which includes your resume and other scores such as GATE) you have done towards the course you are applying to.

How much has your salary increased from your first job to today?

June 2014 : 5 lpaNov 2015 - Present : 13.5 lpaI completed my graduation from VIT University in Computer Science stream . When I joined the college, I never really thought of the salary or the company I want to join. All I knew at that time was that there was 100% placements at VIT. So I was happy and carefree for the first 2 years. But as soon as I reached my 3rd year, I became a little serious about this stuff and gradually became more aware of the companies and their packages that came for recruitment. Finally the 4th year started with a bang. There were companies like Flipkart, eBay which came in the 1st week itself and their packages were more than 10 lpa. I couldn't get selected in those companies. A couple of months passed by and even after making to the final of 2–3 companies , I couldn't get selected. By October the companies which were coming were paying 4–6 lpa.In the first week of October I got selected in a startup and the salary was 5 lpa with a joining bonus of 50K. I cannot even describe that feeling. Though the package was less than I had anticipated earlier, I was happy to finally get a job offer. So finally I joined in December 2013 for internship in the same company at 15 k per month. In June 2014, they converted me full time and I was drawing somewhere near 37 k.Then came the appraisal season. The condition of the company was really bleak and it was going thorough a resource crunch. When I asked my seniors in the company about the hike, I was shocked to know that last year there was no hike for any employee. When my manager called me in his office for appraisal discussion, I went in with little hopes. To my surprise he told me that my package has been increased to 8.3 lpa. That was unbelievable for me. Though I was pretty hard working and sincere in my work, I never expected this much of a hike. The primary reason for this hike was that already a lot of employees had left the company. So the company wanted to retain the remaining employees.Till then I was working as a Java developer. But I had interest in Android programming. So around August I started to look for a job in Android development. After spending 1 month for interview preparation and giving the interview of 4 companies, I had offer from 2 well funded start-ups. One of them was offering me 15 lpa and the other 13.5 lpa + 1 lac joining bonus. I decided to go with the latter after my assessment of both the companies.

What are the best answers for "Why should I hire you"?

Following happened last week during my interview for internship at Microsoft.A little background - It was the third round of interview, which was the HR round. I had performed well in previous two technical interview rounds. But being a non computer science student with no experience with any projects or internships in programming, I had faced my difficulties in answering questions that demanded previous projects/experience.Interviewer - So, Sumit, this is the final question for you. Why should we hire you? Why Microsoft?Me - *thinks for a moment* Sir, shall I give you the answer that I prepared or shall I give you an honest answer?Interviewer - I can listen to them both.Me - I will start with the one I prepared. Sir, you should hire me because even though I do not have any prior experience, I do have the ability to learn and perform. And whatever would be expected of me at Microsoft, I would certainly deliver it with my best abilities and hard work.Interviewer - Impressive. And what’s the honest answer?Me - Sir, 19 years ago, Microsoft created a game named Age of Empires. I am sure you have heard the name. And it’s more than just a video game. It actually requires you to think analytically and come up with the best combinations and timings of your army units to win. Sir when I was really depressed last year, I used to play this game day and night. I used to look up to this game as a challenge. I did all the research, I knew all the civilizations and the best algorithms for all the maps. Sir, not only this game saved me from doing something stupid, it also kept my analytical thinking alive. Had I taken some other bad habit to vent out my depression, I would have thoroughly screwed my life. Sir, I want to create something so simple and yet so amazing like that game. And that’s why Microsoft should hire me.He had a wide grin on his face by the time I ended my short speech.Interviewer - Sumit you are certainly creative. Any questions for us?Me - Am I selected? He gave me the most wonderful smile and said “It’s a yes from my side, we will just have to look at your technical rounds performance.”And later that evening, my friend Ayush Tabhane woke me up from a deep sleep after a long day as he shouted “Microsoft results are out. You’re selected!!!”
