What Is The Minimum Age For Onset Of Type2 Diabetes

Can you get diabetes at 13?? type 2?

Your weight is ok for your age and height. Eating lots of sugar one day a month won't give you type 2 diabetes - to get it at your age you'd need to be very overweight - you can get type 1 diabetes as a child but type 2 is most common in older people over 40 unless someone is very overweight. But it's never too early to start a healthy lifestyle and although you can get away with eating sugar when you're young as you get older if you don't change you will end up very overweight. Eating sugary foods is fine as long as you see them as a treat and not your whole diet! To grow and be healthy you need plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, lean proteins like chicken and fish, and wholegrains like wholemeal bread and brown rice. Next time you want a sweet snack, reach for a piece of fruit. And keep fast food like McDonalds to an absolute minimum. Also, get off the computer and run about outside or take up a sport like football or anything that interests you. If you do all this then you won't have to worry about type 2 diabetes, or heart disease or strokes as you get older. Good luck xxx

Can we get diabetes at the age of 23?

Yes Sir. It is possible to develop diabetes in your 20’s. However its quite challenging nowadays to determine the type of diabetes an individual has. Three major categories of Diabetes have been observed so far-Adult onset diabetes (Type 2 diabetes or NIDDM) which is the most common form that affects 90% of the diabetic population. However this is also seen in obese pre-teens.Early-onset diabetes (Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus or IDDM)observed in a much younger population and diagnosed mostly in the teens.Gestational diabetes which develops in pregnant women. The type of diabetes that we are talking here is called early -onset or type-1 diabetes. In younger individuals, we refer to it as Juvenile diabetes. This is something what we call an auto-immune disorder wherein your immune system mistakenly sees the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas as foreign, and destroys them. The exact mechanism of how this condition is developed has not been completely elucidated, but its known that certain viral infections can trigger it.When your body develops this form of diabetes the arrival of its characteristic symptoms seems quite sudden which is in contrast to the type-2 diabetes whose symptoms take much longer time to express. The condition manifests as symptoms that include weight loss despite eating more, constant thirst and urination, and nausea, low blood pressure and low body temperature. If not treated for this disorder it can lead to severely debilitating conditions of the heart and blood vessels, kidneys, nervous system, eyes, mouth, hands and feet. There is no complete cure for diabetes especially the type-1 form as of now. Keeping a regular check on your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, embracing an active lifestyle and proper food habits should help very much in reducing this menace of a disease.

At what age could you get diabetes type 1 and 2?

Hard to add much to Dr. Sie’s answer. but to add a first person point of view answer, there is not a time when you can be diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.I was a reletively healthy individual, and sometimes around the age of 24 I got all the classic symptoms type 1 and I ignored them (you know, I peed too much cause I was drinking too much water/caffeine, or was tired because I was working a lot) but then I got to the point where I couldnt get from the bedroom to the bathroom without being out of breath.eventually started throwing up (it was flu season So another excuse) went to the doctor and then was admitted into the hospital for a week with DKA. Guess I'll likely have a pump the rest of my life!

Can a man who has diabetes have kids?

The diabetes will certainly make it harder for him to become pregnant, but once he is, it shouldn't affect the pregnancy term or delivery.
