What Is The Most Accurate Sniper Rifle

What makes a good sniper rifle accurate?

Consistency. A highly accurate rifle is characterized by the ability to always do the exact same thing. Also a design that minimizes misalignment and out of balance stresses. So the barrel is supported evenly or not at all, no use having pressure in one spot. The bolt lugs should make up 50% of the available space and should all bear evenly so the bolt face doesn't twist under pressure. The magazine spring should not press so hard on the cartridges that they deflect the bolt. The barrel needs to be accurately machined and free of loose or tight spots, there should be minimal variation from the narrowest to the widest part of the grooves or lands. The stock should be made of a material that does not suffer large changes of dimension with heat or humidity.

The cartridge case volumes must be identical, the primers must be seated consistently and the primer pockets and flash holes must all the as near identical as possible. The powder should fill the available space, or nearly so. The powder weights must be identical shot to shot. The bullets must also be identical and free from faults or blemishes. A flat tip will be more accurate than a spire point. The bullets must be seated to the correct depth and crimped to exactly the same force.

The optics should be top class and built very well. Sorry, I don't know the specifics of scope construction, other than that all the lenses are mounted so that their rest position is 100% consistent.

But after all that the most important thing is the operator at the blunt end.

Why are assault weapons inaccurate? They were built for a different purpose, they need to work when full of sand and mud or the crud from 1000 rounds. They aren't required to be able to hit a man sized target at 800 yards, though some will. The AR-15 is compromised by a crummy gas system, an uneven bolt lockup and a thin barrel with inconsistent rigidity (wide and narrow points). Considering what a poor design it is, it does OK. Other rifles do a better job with the same varmint round. I believe the British SA-80 is very accurate, though heavy and having had terrible reliability and usability issues in the past.

What is the most powerful and accurate sniper rifle in the world?

This is a very open ended question. There really is no such thing as a "sniper" rifle. It is the sniper that makes it so. One of the most accurate long range anti-personal rifles is the Cheytac m200 Intervention. Coupled with it's ballistics computer and a professional shooter, it is capable of shooting up to 2500 yards. This is an expensive weapon if you are looking to buy one, I think around $18 - 20,000. People will say the Barett or other .50 BMG rifles, but they are designed primarily for anti-armor and not soft targets (people). The .408 Cheytac round was designed first, then the rifle around it, it is just far more accurate than any .50 cal rifle.

Here's tons of info on it

What is the most powerful sniper rifle and most accurate sniper rifle?

I think the most powerful would be either the Barrett M82, chambered in .50 BMG or the McMillan Tac-50 also chambered in .50 BMG.As for the most accurate, I’d have to go with either the McMillan Tac-50 or the CheyTac M200 Intervention.I seem to recall a test that was done on it at about 1500 yards. It was set at a fixed position that was aimed at a target. It was then fired 3 times. All three shots were within 5 cm of each other. At 0.85 miles, 3 shots within 5 cm.The McMillan Tac-50 was the rifle responsible for the longest confirmed kill at over two miles. Credit is definitely due to the actual person who pulled off the shot, but without a good and accurate rifle, I doubt that would’ve happened.

What is the most accurate sniper rifle with the longest range? (1) Tell me the best one (2) and the best afforadae one.?

The most "accurate" sniper rifle is the one YOU can hit the target with. It doesn't matter what other people use.

What is the best .50 sniper rifle?

The “best” sniper rifle is the one that most suits the particular environment and shooter, making it pretty subjective. Seal snipers will often have multiple rifles for different situations they go into. The .50s are generally reserved for environments where extremely long engagements are likely so I will focus on that aspect.Given that requirement, I am giving an answer based on longest range confirmed kills. 3 out of the top 4 documented longest range kills to date were performed with a McMillan Tac-50 rifle, making it the best proven sniper rifle for extreme range.

What's more important in a sniper rifle, precision or accuracy?

In this context, I’d have to define the terms this way…Accuracy is “what size of a group can I shoot with this rifle?”. There is no such thing as a “zero” group size at all ranges and all conditions.. there will ALWAYS be a “zone” in which all shots of a multi shot group will fall.Precision is “how well can I control where the theoretical center of my group-size is?”.Though of this way; they almost equally important. If one’s rifle is capable of a 3 minute of angle group, consistently, at all ranges up to the maximum effective range of the rifle, it would not be considered a particularly “great” rifle, but if it is truly consistent, it can do its job out to a range where 3 minutes of angle will no longer fall within the target zone required (ie, bigger than a human torso). The rifles precision, being able to predict and control where that 3″ group lands, is critically important. If you are trying to engage the torso of a target, and you can drop 5 rounds in a perfect 3 minute of angle circle… but you can only put that circle 4 feet to the left of your target - your rifle is useless if you cannot PRECISELY move that group to your intended target. An example in the competitive shooting world;Benchrest shooters concentrate on extreme ACCURACY… making the smallest group possible. They don’t care as much were that group IS, as long as it’s on the target someplace.Smallbore Prone shooters need to keep their groups IN THE TEN RING of the target. The Conventional prone target is not particularly challenging from an accuracy standpoint, but wind and rifle position affect the PRECISION of where that group goes.Note: it’s entirely possible I have reversed these two terms… I never could keep them straight! I have their meanings well defined and separated in my mind, but too many rounds of .45–70 with a 550 grain bullet have rattled my brain loose in it’s mount…
