Can you recommend a good English book to teach Chinese students with?
Murphy's English Grammar in Use is excellent for teenagers and adults but it is very heavy going for little kids. It has exercises at different levels which are fine and ther grammar explanations and examples work well. Personally I use the great poets as both vocabulary expanders and pronunciation exercises, Kipling, Keats, Robert Browning , Evans, Masefield and Byron all have shorter poems which can either be learned by heart or read aloud. Most are available on the net I'm not mad keen on Longman's books and the ever reliable OUP is not what it was ten years ago. Actually that's the problem it's exactly what it was ten years ago.
