How would i get into acting after studying at university?
I'd love to act but people keep saying it's an unrealistic option that I won't get anywhere in...I still want to try though because I love to act and you might as well give it a go if there's even the slightest chance that you could have a career in doing what you love. Admittedly, I'm shy (i don't actually feel shy on stage though I get REALLY nervous as i have stage fright but even so, I love the buzz and am willing to do it over and over again despite my fear) and I don't think I'm brilliant at acting (I lack confidence), I'm trying to work on this and I know I can be brilliant in a way (i don't mean to sound arrogant or anything but my drama tutor did say i was a star which gave me a confidence spurt for a while) but the only acting I've done is stage and theatre whilst I have a more subtle quality...I dunno... Anyway, this isn't the point...I'm rambling. I'm studying creative writing and drama BA and I must've been at least a little bit good to get through the audition sooooo that's...good. Means I have skills that I can work on. Before this, I did go to Drama Classes with a theatre company and performed a couple of sketches... sorry, rambling again :P anywho...what would I have to do after university? I've considered proper drama school but I doubt I could afford it and it's soooo competitive (I'm very willing to give it a shot though but still...the money...) I almost couldn't come to uni because it's expensive. I don't want something as trivial as money to get in the way though. anyone have any tips though I am going to speak to a careers advisor? i'm not just relying on yahoo...that would be silly :P
Were you a good student at university? If yes what was your study method?
Thanks for A2A, Peter Sool.Going by my GPA, no, I wasn't a good student at my university. After I graduated from my high school, I was burned out and badly in need of a break. But my parents insisted that I *had to* go to the university in the fall, even though I wasn't really mentally ready for it.I went to all of my classes and did all of my homework and took all the tests. But I wasn't all that into it. I went for the sake of my parents and merely to get my degree. I just did enough to get by.My study method was to take some notes during my classes and then re-read the materials & notes and try to memorize them. While that method worked for me in general, I do think that I would have done much better if I had that much-needed break and only went to the university when I was truly ready. Then I'd have gotten much more out of my university experience and possibly gotten a better GPA.
Is studying at Oxford University in England a good idea???
If you don't know the answer to that question, are you really intelligent enough to study at Oxford University? Studying at Oxford should open up the very highest doors but the people who go there aren't necessarily the most intelligent people in the UK or the world, and it certainly doesn't mean that they are better or nicer than other people in every respect- they have just managed to answer questions to a high enough level on a narrow range of subjects in their exams. Cambridge University has actually been classed as slightly better in league tables overall in recent years. Cambridge University has a much better reputation for science than Oxford, whereas Oxford has aa better reputation for the arts (but the difference between the two in the arts is probably very small and Cambridge has the Footlights society.) Although some people mention the ancient universities of Scotland. eg St Andrews, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, the closest equivalent to Oxford and Cambridge in England is arguably Durham University, as it also has a collegiate system. Although York (where I went) also has a collegiate system, it is pretty arbritary, with no discernible differences between each college.
Want to study fashion in University of Arts London?
I have been taking Art ever since I was 7 and have a strong passion for fashion designing. I'll be graduating from what we call " Secondary school " in my country with a cambridge 'o' level certificate . Would that be sufficient in applying , or do I have to enter some art school in my country to get a diploma ? ( I will be 17 next year ) Or , can you guys recommend me some prestigious places to study fashion designing after my ' o ' levels which I can later proceed on to University of Arts London? thank you !
Is global a good university in bahrain..?
why do not you wait for the Issuance of " Quality Assurance Authority " report before deciding to go there ... because you know the educational issue in Bahrain regarding some universities and institution which first have been given t the permission to run business in bahrain , when it was only later that they were declared as unrecognized or weak university by QAA. ..... Any way ....this institution has really old root in bahrain ...but it does not mean necessarily that it is getting better by time, actually it's becoming old ! The majority of its' students are Asian...so it's certificate is welcomed more by "asian " employers ..make sure when you apply for a job in future that the organization got some one Asian in the HR... Now talking about my personal experience ... I have taken some short courses there when I was younger ...and what I have seen is that the institution has lost its glory it used to have… Especially regarding their academic crew... No offence ,...but they were the worst I have ever been taught by ! we did not get any written curriculum to follow ... we had to report our lecturer to the Administration because she was happy spending half an hour blabbing with her friend outside the class ON our Classes time account ! We have not had any homework to support the learning techniques,,,, etc ... I though that since I am studying in " kinda of " an (indian) institution I would receive a decent and strict education ... but it was no thing like what it supposes to be ...Look at some other rivals like birla institution for example! At first glance, the programmes sounds great compared with the cost … but it just a programme that needs a professional people to execute it … ... I am not sure wheather you are high school graduate or not yet ?…have expirence or not ? Deciding whether it is a good decision to go there on not , that all depends on your own situation .,,....
