What Is The Psychological Effect Of Cramming For School

Should I stay in orchestra (which I've been in for 5 yrs) or drop and take sociology and psychology?

I have been playing the violin for 5yrs now in the local school orchestra. I have no intrest in it but people have told me that it looks good on a college resume. First off, is this true and if so how good does it look of I were to stay in it for all 7 yrs? Next, I am looking to go to Uw-Madison and go to med school to hopefully become an anesthesiologist. Now two recommened courses for students in high school to take if they wish to go into he medical field is sociology and psychology, and I would love to take them but only have 7 periods in the day and I'm already taking summer classes to free up as much space as possible, should I drop orchestra and go on to take sociology and psychology or stick with orchestra? Also if I were to drop orchestra it would give me a study hall which would really relieve stress and cramming! What do you thing?????

Should I take AP Psychology?

I took it last year as a high school sophomore. I got a 5 on it from cramming the week before (though I don't suggest this lol). One of the easiest AP classes out there as you just have to mainly memorize (not like solving hard equations and math), and I was also taking another AP class that year. If you're good at memorizing and learning vocabulary, as well as being interested in the subject, you should do good.

You will learn about:
- History, historical figures, and their theoretical approaches
- Research methods
- How physiological processes affect behavior
- Sensation and perception
- States of consciousness (sleep, dreams, hypnosis, drug effects)
- Learning processes
- Cognition (how people learn, remember, and retrieve info), problem solving, language
- Factors that motivate behavior and influence emotion
- Development (behavioral change throughout life span)
- Personality
- Abnormal behavior, disorders, diagnoses, treatments
- Social psychology (interactions between one another), group behavior

Nervous for AP Psychology Exam?

ok first u need to breathe. i know the test is on tuesday, im taking it too, but now you have all weekend to study. there are a lot of things you need to know.

One thing you need to do is review your vocabulary and your people. You need to know what each main person in psychology does, and what school of psych they are associated with (Pavlov-learning, freud-psychoanalysis, etc)
Thats a link of the main people you should know, they are all for the most part pretty important and any of them can be on the test.

You also should know that each section of the book (whther its cognitive, learning, intelligence, neuroscience, developmental, etc) is going to make up around 6-8% of the test. But social psych is the most at 7-9%, especially since the people that make the test are mostly social psychologist. So make sure you know all that info.

Another helpful tool, is to take a diagnostic test to see how prepared you are. There is a PERFECT one on sparknotes that will tell you what score you will probably get and what sections you need to work on.

You have to make an account, but its sooooooo helpful.

Good luck, eat before your test, and don't stress out.

AP Psychology Vocabulary Word?

Basically it is achieving a desired effect by careful selection of the words used.In other words, you choose the words you use in order to achieve a certain effect.

For example how many times have you heard something advertised "for only", say, $19.95? You're talking twenty dollars but "for only" and the cents in the amount make people think :bargain",

Hope this helps.

Also keyword search 'wording effect'.

I always cram before exams and then regret it because the learning done that way doesn't stick. What are some of the best ways to stay motivated to study well before exams?

First of all pay attention in the class. Take notes and ask what you dont understand . Listen when I was at school/colllege I was very nervous to ask anything to the teachers . So never fear to ask question. Interaction helps a lot in studies.First of all don't fear exams . If you fear exams and results then you will never do well. Just focus on what you do the best and what you know and study with a open and unpressured mind. Your mind is not a pressure cooker to store .Just remember results don't matter what you learned and achieved during the process does . If you do the process properly and in the right way then results will obviously follow . Sometimes results may be in your favour sometimes and sometimes not.Studying daily is the key to getting good marks. Just revise what you are taught in the Class the same day .Maintain a healthy diet Resting properly and excercising regularly are the one of the main aspects for good marks . Believe it or not
