Why did revolutionary era British officers wear wigs?

All European - and American - Gentlemen wore wigs in this time, here is an extract from wiki entry -“Powdered wigs (men) and powdered natural hair with supplemental hairpieces (women) became essential for full dress occasions and continued in use until almost the end of the 18th century. The elaborate form of wigs worn at the coronation of George III in 1761 was lampooned by William Hogarth in his engraving Five Orders of Periwigs. Powdering wigs and extensions was messy and inconvenient, and the development of the naturally white or off-white powderless wig (made of horsehair) for men made the retention of wigs in everyday court dress a practical possibility. By the 1780s, young men were setting a fashion trend by lightly powdering their natural hair, as women had already done from the 1770s onwards. After 1790, both wigs and powder were reserved for older, more conservative men, and were in use by ladies being presented at court. After 1790 English women seldom powdered their hair.”It makes no sense to us, but what would 18th Century people think of current young people paying a lot of money for a pair of Jeans that were pre-torn at the knees?By the way do not forget that the “Revolutionary” leaders were European gentlemen in education, manners and dress. In fact you may as well remove “British” from the question.

Why do Asians and Asian-Americans look different? Even though the Asian-Americans may be of 100% Asian ethnicity, what causes changes in looks between these two groups of people?

asian americans are more into western fashion and stuff while asian asians are more into asian fashion culture so they look different.Chou Tzuyu - Asian celebrityAngelababy - Asian celebrityKeiko Kitagawa - Asian celebrityErika Mori - Asian celebrityJamie Chung - Asian American celebrityBrenda Song - Asian American CelebrityKelly Hu - Asian American celebrityAs one can see, Asian Americans look pretty “white-washed” with western beauty standards. They have heavy makeup, have blonde highlights in their hair, tan, and seem to aim for a sexy vibe. Asian Asians on the other hand tend to like lighter makeup, have paler skin, and aim for a cute vibe. TBH, personally I do not think Asian Americans are suited for western beauty standards, especially the makeup style. Asian features are not suited for heavy contouring.

What is the name of an Egyptian headdress worn by Pharaohs?

There isn't a single name of them all. The Egyptian Headdress (also referred to as Head Crowns) that Pharaohs wore, had many different names and meanings to them. Depending on what type of Royal Headdress they wore, it always had a significance to some event or ritual. Headdresses  can also be considered as a Head Crown that the Pharaohs wore. For example, the White Crown was worn to symbolize the Pharaoh's control of Upper Egypt and thus was worn exclusively in engagements in Upper Egypt only. Alternatively, the Red Crown, was for Lower Egypt and events or engagements in Lower Egypt only. The most famous Nemes Headdress (like pictured above - that's King Tut wearing it), is perhaps the most worn and the oldest of all the Headdresses (or Head Crowns), is nothing more than a head-cloth.The names of all the Divine headdresses are:Amen Horus MinAmentetAnhuretAnuketAtem HorusAyebtBesHapiHaHah (or Heh)Harakhte SekhmetHathor IsisHemsutHorusIsisKhnumKhonsMa'atMeret (The Nile god of Lower Egypt)Meret (The Nile god of Upper Egypt)MeshenetMinMutNeithNekhbet Isis MutNephthysNutOsiris Horus ReRe'ReshefSatisSelketSeshatSukhosTanent IunitWasetHesat (the White Cow)The name of all the Pharaonic Crowns (Headdresses) are:NemesKhepreshCap crownDeshretHedjetSekhemty (double crown of united Egypt)AtefThutyKhat (or Afnet)Hemhem (Triple Atef crown)Source Credits:http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/ph...http://www.reshafim.org.il/ad/eg...http://www.touregypt.net/feature...

Why do Orthodox Jews have long sideburns and large hats?

Not all orthodox Jews, some.Long sideburns? There is a prohibition from the bible against cutting off the sideburns completely. These Jews have a communal tradition to go further than the basic law and keep them long.Large Hats? There is a basic requirement in Jewish Law to cover ones head and dress respectfully. Again, they have a communal tradition to take a step further by wearing a hat rather than a skullcap. However this “step further” is more much more common within orthodox circles as this in short has more of a stronger solid foundation within Jewish Law. Each community might also have a different hat. E.g. Orthodox jews from Russia and Northern Europe might have a fur hat as was the culture in those countries but a Jew from arab countries such as morrocco or egypt might wear a turban or fez etc… as was the common culture. However most orthodox jews nowadays no matter what community they are would wear a normal black hat to fullfil the obligation of wearing a headcovering and dressing respectfully. You should know that headcovering with some sort of hat was a tradition of all the Jews that goes back at least 2000 years. Orthodox Jewish leaders have said that although only a skullcap is a requirment, a hat is recommended - does a better job.Alot of other reasons behind this…

Do you Belive that Elvis is still alive?

Death Certificate.

Elvis was very vain, and he was embarrassed about his recent weight gain - an astonishing 50 pounds in the month before his so-called death. Even though he weighed about 250 pounds at the time of his "death," his death certificate lists him at a spry 170 pounds. The original death certificate disappeared, and the current death certificate is dated two months after his alleged death.

The Wax Body Theory.

This argument is very convincing when the facts are considered. Elvis's coffin required several pall bearers because it weighed 900 pounds. Attendants of the funeral reported that the air around the coffin was rather cool. It is suspected that the coffin contained an air conditioning unit to keep a wax body cool - a wax body that was a replica of the King designed to fool funeral-goers. And how did the Presley family get a 900 pound, custom made coffin ready for a funeral that was held on the day after his death? It takes a lot of time to build such an ela
