What Is The Store That A Mechanic Works In A Mechanic Is Someone Who Fixes Cars.

What can I do if a mechanic does some work on my car without my permission?

It depends on the agreement you signed when handing over the keys. Regardless of what part it is, in many many cases that's just how repair work goes. You ask for a service you get a service. Most places do the diagnostic work themselves or tell you they don't want your advice about the problem for a very specific reason. You ask for the car to be fixed you get it fixed. You get charged in an itemized way because of how taxes work. Please, read the agreement before you sign it.If they work on your car without a signature on a legal form? Look at your local laws about it, they probably broke a few.Never hand over your keys for work without signing something of an agreement, it protects you BOTH!They give an ESTIMATE there is no way to know what your car will do when they take it apart, please read the agreement you sign!!!!Local laws are at play and regardless of what part you need fixed or if it is suspension or transmission that’s true. Read your agreement with the business you ask to work on your car!

Mechanics how many cars do you work on, on average?

ok the mechanic shop I'm looking to start working at says he stays really busy enough to keep me busy all the time. I like staying busy, I'm just curious on a average week how many cars can you fix per day. I understand different cars have different problems and some take more time then others thats why I'm asking what is your average?

As a mechanic, has someone ever brought a car to your shop and while fixing it, you found something illegal in the car?

I used to work at a car stereo shop while in college. We had a customer come in to get an amp and subwoofer installed which required removing the rear seat. I pulled the bottom of the seat up and found a wallet full of cash that had a rubber band around it. I shuffled through it some just to see how much it was. Probably close to $3500. Here's an actual picture of it:I didn't take anything and told my boss about it. I decided to stay a little later than usual to show the customer his new system. When I walked to the front of the store, I noticed he worked at Whole Foods, and I heard my boss telling him I was the one that found his wallet. I was wondering how someone that worked at Whole Foods had so much extra cash laying around. Well, good thing I stayed because he pulled a $100 bill out of that stack and gave it to me for not taking any of it.Although not illegal to have money in his car, I'm pretty sure it was drug money.

As a mechanic, do you mind if I watch you work on my car, so I can learn what caused my problem?

Hey I'm a mechanic now so I guess I can answer this.Okay, okay, I'm a tire boy. But I digress. Not while I'm at work. Looooong before I started my now job, I've had a policy that as long as you stay and learn, my labor is free. Obviously that doesn't work now that I'm actually work working, but anything I do on the side still has the same policy.However.If you pester me, argue with me, try to correct me, etc., you pay double. You don't know what we are doing. That's why I'm here. Either sit quiet, ask questions and learn, or get out of my way. It's not a mean thing, but yes I do need to hit that with a hammer. Yes this is the right way to do it. Yes I'm going to be done soon. Now, on the job, there are a number of reasons the answer is no.Insurance. My shop covers me, not you. If you get hurt out here, our ass is screwed.Safety. The equipment I'm using at work is far more powerful than the handheld man-powered tools I use on the side. I'm not going to have someone who's never used one before hurt themselves, me, or the equipment.I'm trying to get this done quickly. There are people waiting in line and they would really like to go back to whatever it was they were doing and forget that whatever happened happened. It's not personal. But if some random person came in off the street and sat down next to you at your desk, and started asking you a million questions while customers were shouting at you and you were trying to figure out why your program wasn't working, you'd tell them to leave and let you do your job too.

What happens if you can't pay for the work the mechanic does to your car?

I am in the middle of a road trip when
my 2000 passat stops working. The transmission is slipping and the engine dies right after it turns over. I only have a couple hundred dollars on me right now, no cards...what happens if I cant pay?

Whats the correct name for a person who fixes cars? Auto repair or somthing?

Mechanic.

The graph says that the majority of people (50%) with that job's salary is between $44,849-$59,534.

15% of people make $37,139-$44,849 or $59,534-$65,194.

It's also saying that only few people (10%) get over $65,194 and only 10% make under $37,139.

What are people's biggest frustration with automobile mechanics/auto repair shops?

There are two sides to this argument. From the CONSUMER side:Over-billing, use of sub-par parts, extra repairs that were no requested, requests for more repairs needed, and just plain sloppy workmanship. And many of these consumer complaints are valid and documented. From the AUTO TECHNICIAN side:Customers not understanding that a vehicle is a set "systems", designed to work in harmony, and with information fed from other systems. Fixing "A" problem does not always fix "THE" problem, especially when a component(s) of another system lead to the fail of the first problem.Your garden hose doesn't seem to have the pressure it used to, so you call me to take a look at it. I immediately notice that water is gushing at the spigot/hose connector, and suspect a bad washer. I replace it, and the leak stops. Did I fix your problem? Maybe not, since now that more pressure is available, we see many pin-point leaks in the hose where is has been chewed on by your dog. AFTER I made the requested repair, I am left to tell you that the entire hose needs replacing. You get mad because you already paid to fix the damn thing, then want more to replace it. To you, I look like a thief, but to me, I simply did as you asked, but found OTHER problems. When you get your vehicle repaired, anywhere, TALK to them...what happened, why did it happen, what MIGHT happen further down the road, WHY do they want to do the extra diagnosis or repairs? If they can't, or won't, answer these questions, or be willing to sit and talk with you...run, don't walk, to find another repair facility.
