What is the worst movie you've ever watched?

Back in 2011, I went on a movie date at the local cinema. I believe the movie we were supposed to see was Our Idiot Brother, but due to some of our own negligence and possibly bad direction by the ticket clerk, we took a left turn instead of a right turn and wound up in the wrong theatre (I am assuming this kind of mistake is the only reason anyone ever saw this movie).The room was ominously empty, but I figured that was because the movie we were going to see had been out for two weeks or so. When the previews started, I got a weird feeling in my gut. If you’ve ever done something incredibly stupid or dangerous, you’d recognize this feeling. My brain screamed at me “I shouldn’t be here”. But I stayed. Maybe, I thought, the movie just had some odd previews.Then the opening sequence began and the words “A Happy Madison Production” seemed to jump out of the screen. 3D movies were all the rage in 2011, but believe me, we did not have 3D glasses on. Something was wrong.A few minutes in, it became painstakingly clear that this was not the theatre we were supposed to be in, but it was too late to turn back now, too much had happened. We gave eachother a glance, and continued on into the fray. By the time the movie really got started, we understood our mistake, but the other movie would be too hard to follow at this point, and we couldn’t get our money back for walking into the wrong theatre. You can’t say a movie isn’t worth the money you paid for it when you didn’t pay for it. I still felt ripped off.In embarrassment, we watched the entire movie. I don’t know how that movie got made, or made it into theatres, and I can only imagine how many people got fired for allowing that garbage to get released. It was bad, even for Adam Sandler’s production company which is notorious for bad movies.What was the movie? Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star (2011)For the love of God, don’t let your curiosity get the best of you. You do not want to know what this movie is about. Suffice it to say, that this was the day I lost hope in humanity.

In recent memory… Suicide Squad.Let’s be real; DC have been struggling with their movie universe.Suicide Squad seemed like it was going to change things.First off — it had an interesting cast.Will SmithMargot RobbieJared Leto (sure, people were against him being the Joker, but people also freaked the fuck out about Heath Ledger after he was announced and look at how that turned out. And Leto has proven himself a solid actor in the likes of Dallas Buyers’ Club, Fight Club, and Requiem for a Dream).Secondly - it had a really good director - Ayer has proven himself capable with Fury and End of Watch.Thirdly - the cast of characters involved, the backdrop of Arkham’s worst being the ones you’re reliant on. Fantastic.And what did we get?A car crash of a movie so far up its own premise that it couldn’t see how awful it was. The soundtrack was unrelenting in the worst way possible. It felt like the movie was trying to be Tarantino, but without any of the skill or charisma he possesses.It was a movie that had the fingerprints of studio tampering throughout. You know all the best bits ended up on the cutting room floor in the editing process, especially after the success of Deadpool. You can tell some executive saw the reaction to that movie, got a hard-on, and turned around to the filmmakers to say, “this is what people want”.And then we have the whole issue of gender politics.Robbie, an actor of amazing calibre, seems to have been put there because she looks good in hot pants. There was one scene where she smashes a display window, bends over to pick up a bag, and the camera goes down a level and looks up her arse so much that I could almost see her teeth!It reached Michael Bay levels of leering.And then we have Cara Delevingne; an actress so lacking in acting prowess that it’s a wonder anybody hires her!At the climax of the movie, where she’s doing something or other, it just made me feel awkward. Like she was standing there, shaking her hips, crotch thrusting, and looking like an eejit.Then we have Leto’s Joker, who felt like the studio needed to smack him across the head and say, “you’re being weird. Not in a good way”.And next there’s the fact that it was just a bad movie.It was one of the few movies that I left feeling annoyed by what I was watching.Oh - you also asked what it was about?I have no fucking idea. Something to do with Margot Robbie’s arse.

Okay, I'll bite.It depends on how much time you have left to live and how often you need to sleep.Hollywood cranks out about 2,000 movies per year.  Let's go back about 100 years assuming that same pace.  That's about 300,000 hours of movie watching (at 1.5 hours per movie), which would take you 35 years to watch, assuming you never slept, worked, or ate.  If you want to do all three, make that 70 years.  But don't forget the 210,000 hours of additional movies made during those 70 years that become your new backlog once you get done watching the first 100 years.It's fair to say you'll be dead before you get to the end, even if you started as soon as you were born.I'm excluding every movie made outside the US by the way, which are substantial, in the aggregate.
