What are some good popular pharmacology books?

If u want to have in depth knowledge of pharmacology then Goodman and Gilman's is the right book for you. It will help u in building great concepts but u need to read this book right from the beginning and need to make your own notes from it.But if u find it too lengthy then go for K.D. Tripathi. It is a great book for undergraduate. If u don't understand Goodman and Gilman's and don't find K.D. Tripathi good enough then Katzung is the book for u. Believe me Katzung is an awesome book at undergraduate level. Many people find K.D. Tripathi difficult to remember amd Katzung too lengthy then go for H.L. Sharma and K.K. Sharma which is a great book with very good diagrams and flow charts and the language is very simple especially ANS is beautifully described in this book.If u have very less time in your exams and u hate reading pharmacology then go for Shanbhag. Shanbhag is a very good book which is short and sweet. The flow diagrams are marvellous and it is very easy to remember.

Can I study neuropharmacology in graduate school if I am doing research in theoretical/computational neuroscience right now? For reference, I’m a junior who just started working in a lab this semester, but it is not that interesting to me.

Hello ! I am not an expert on the field that you are referring to , but , I will gladly give you my honest opinion if you really want me to . I would say that the best decision is go with what you are interested with since after finishing school , it is the career that you have chosen that is going to be your means of livelihood and you want to be happy with it as well as working with it too . It is like marriage . You have to choose carefully the person you want to spend the rest of your life with . They both are very similar . I hope this helps ! ^-^

What do you wish you had done differently in pharmacology school?

Thanks for the A2A. I did not study in a'pharmacology' school. I did post graduation in pharmacology in a medical school. The only thing I wish had done differently was to focus more on the practical side.It is not easy now days to get hold of animals for the practicals. So I focused more on the theoretical aspect of pharmacology, and also gaining experience in teaching pharmacology to the undergraduate.Hope this helps.

Is B.Pharm a medical course or paramedical course?

Question: Is B.Pharm a medical course or paramedical course?Answer:Before answering this question first let us go through few definitions.Medicine(course): Medicine is the science and practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Not be confused with medicine(drugs).Paramedical course: It is a study related to services and professions which trains person to support medical work but do not require a fully qualified doctor. This includes radiography, physiotherapy, emergency aid and nursing etc.Pharmacy: Pharmacy is a branch of science which deals with preparing, dispensing and quality control of medicinal drugs.Clinical Pharmacy: It is the branch of pharmacy in which pharmacists provide patient care that optimizes the use of medication and promotes health, wellness, and disease prevention. Now coming back to your question. If you go thru the syllabus of B.Pharmacy you can find out that treatment, diagnosis, prevention of some diseases are also been taught but that is only theory part. No practical sessions are been held, but in Medicine Course (MBBS) theoretical as well practical session are also been held.As per the definition of Medicine Course it includes both theory as well as practicals(Attending Patients under supervision of experienced Doctors). So we can conclude that B.pharmacy does not come under Medicine Course even though it is indirectly related to it.Even though some principles of paramedics is included in B.Pharmacy. B.pharmacy as whole cannot be included in paramedical course as it is a separate branch of science. But you need understand that just after completion your degree(B.pharmacy) you cannot become a paramedic unless and until you take training for it. The reality is that you can’t even read Doctors prescription after completion of B.pharmacy.Laboratory practicals which are held in B.pharmacy is more focused on preparation and analysis of drugs rather than patient care.Hope This Helps! Please do correct me if I am wrong.Thank You.Footnotes:Medicine - Wikipediahttps://www.google.co.in/search?...Paramedic - WikipediaPharmacy - Wikipediahttps://www.google.co.in/url?sa=...
