What Is This Book Young Adult Fiction

What are some of the best young adult fiction books you have read?

UNWIND DYSTOLOGY - Neal ShustermanI’m a female and I love this series to pieces. No pun intended.I’ve read a lot of YA over the years as a teenager still stuck in the system called high school.BUT SERIOUSLY!I loved this series more than the Hunger Games after burning through this series.I was born in the HG era, was forced to read The Outsiders, and then lived to enjoy the Divergent Trilogy but this?(I cried for Johnny only because it was on audio book.)I picked it up on a whim, thinking that the concept was relatively interesting and had good reviews. I read it while on vacation.Unlike other YA authors Shusterman doesn’t bowdlerize his work so teenagers will read his work. Rather, it’s just the right amount of romance, numerous plot twists, and just enough gore. His writing is in third person and is anything but amateur writing. He is by far one of the most underrated YA authors. He has worked as a screenwriter as well as an author. This book has been considered required reading at some schools but it is by far anything but that. The romance is more realistic than the HG and so is the ending. Also, the writing is better than Divergent.DID I MENTION PLOT TWISTS EVERYWHERE?The concept? It’s a dystopian novel that centers around three characters: Lev, Risa, and Connor. The society is set in modern times, just a little after the iPhone became an outdated piece of technology. But really? It’s practically set in modern times probably still set in the 21st century. The only difference between now and in their world is that kids can be unwound if they are under the age of 18. Abortion is illegal. Instead, parents have the option to unwind their kid. If they have their kid unwound, they are sent to camps in which they are sent away so that 99.9% of their body parts can be given to others as transplants. Some of the kids are delinquents, some are orphans, and some were sacrificed so their parents could give 10% for religious purposes.Oiy. I know. Weird. Just pick it up and read it. If you’re itching for plot twists? Read it. Good romance? Read it. :D

What are the pros and cons of young adult fiction?

Young Adult fiction as you mentioned has its pros and cons.

Pros: Most are set up similar to each other. (This can also be seen as a con though). There is romance but typically there isn't intense sex scenes you would find in adult books, nor is there really bad language. YA books are great for teenagers who are just getting into reading. The level of reading isn't difficult and usually they are just books people enjoy. I think YA is more of a stepping stone, most people find wonderful books in YA, then as they get older they move onto Literature Fiction.

Cons: As I mentioned before most plot lines are similar to each other. For example right now there are far too many vampire and werewolf books. Most YA books focus on a main character who lives a seemingly boring and normal life until something happens like a new boy/girl comes to town, etc. For people who are looking for a more thought provoking or deeper meaning books won't find it in YA.

*For me, YA was a stepping stone. When I was around 12-14 I loved the typical YA books with romance and supernatural element. However, now I don't like YA. I feel that they are all written the same and are easy reads. I'm seventeen now and have moved past YA and read far more Literature Fiction books.

I hope this helped.

Steamy Young Adult Book?

I have to laugh at your request because for decades my neighborhood library has classified Fanny Hill, or, Memoirs of a woman of pleasure by John Cleland (written about 1750) as young adult fiction and I'd classify it as NC17 (formerly XXX). Whooa, really good smut. They put it right under your nose, classified as classic and you never knew it.

Here are some links to book lists from goodreads.com for the fiction you want to read. You might want to get your friends to comb through these with you because I'm sure you didn't expect so many titles:

What are some of the best young adult fiction novels?

Okay I have a HUGE list of young adult fiction novels that I love! There is obviously the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I haven't heard of one person that doesn't adore it. I still haven't completed the series as of now, but I loved the parts that I have completed.I also really adore The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. It's an on-going series. The last book comes out this year! It's a fairy tale retelling set in the future and no, its not just meant for girls, a lot of guys love the series too! Its simply amazing! There's also the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I haven't started the series yet, but I've read a lot of reviews and tonnes of people have recommended it to me. The main protagonist of the series is Caelena who is an assassin .... I mean isn't that bad-ass enough?!!If you're into dystopian, you have to try the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I loved the first two books of the series, the last book..not so much...but it was a satisfying ending. Also you've gotta try the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. I really liked this series. There are mixed feelings towards the last book though, but a lot of people enjoyed it overall. There's also The Mortal Instruments and also The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. I haven't completed the TMI yet. As of now, I'm not really attached to the characters but people told me that the series does get better and I have to give it a try.If you want to read a stand-alone, there's Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I've heard nothing but positive reviews about this book and every book blogger raves about it.I guess all these books are fine for now. Happy Reading!

“Fear of sex or intimacy” in young adult fiction?

I am searching for a fictional book with the theme “fear of sex or fear of intimacy”. I need a book, in which a main character would be afraid of intimacy or sexual intercourse (even though, he or she would be deeply in love with his/her partner.), or at least any story, in which similar themes would be somehow involved. It does not matter, whether the main character would be a girl, or a boy. (There are plenty of non-fictional books on this theme, but I cannot find any fiction. (If you didn’t know any fiction book, then, at least a biography or autobiography.) Thank you very much for your help : - ) PS: Ideally intended for YOUNG ADULTS, but the theme is more important.
