What can a lump under the skin be?
There’s a long list of things it could be. First, it could be normal—firm or hard anatomy can be felt beneath the skin. We have many boney prominences, for example. If you are concerned that it is unusual then take advantage of the body’s symmetry—find the same place on the other side of your body and palpate it (feel by pressing down with your fingers and examining).If it’s not a normal part of your anatomy, then it could be one of many things. Some of these are swellings related to fluid accumulation, arthritis, cysts, swelling of blood vessels, swollen lymph glands, tumors, etc.If it is something new, it is also good to have it examined by a physician. Most likely it is nothing harmful, but just worrying about it can create anxiety, and if that is the case, it’s always good to put your anxiety to rest by having a physician check it out.
Small, hard lumps underneath my dog's skin?
He's a Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix and over the past year he's had these tiny, hard, pea sized bumps under his skin in random spots. They cause him no pain, they don't move around under his skin, and they are again, HARD. Not soft in the slightest bit. No skin discoloration, except the usual scab when I pick at them. Sometimes it appears they are itchy, and others, it just looks as if he is reacting from me scratching that general area. The vet blows it off as no big deal when we call about them, but my dad has yet to make an actual appointment. (Probably not answering our questions because he's yet to have gotten paid.) Does anyone have any idea about what these are?
Small lump on ball sack?
I am a 15 year old male....duh. Today, while I was sitting on the toilet, I noticed a small little bump/lump on the outside on my ball sack. It's not really any color, basically just the normal color of the scrotum. Here's the background: The left side of my sack has been itchy recently, like the past month. I just sorta ignored it and tried to itch it as little as possible. Actually, for a really long time, a few years...the skin between the side of my thigh and the ball sack has been a little discolored- dark brownish- the discoloration is also on the side of the ball sack (like the crease between the "valley" ,formed by the thigh and sack, and the left testicle. I don't know if that was important, but if any of you have an answer to that also, feel free to tell me. Back to the lump...It's near the base of the penis, actually closer to the skin on the left side of the penis. When I touch it, it itches a little bit. Also, I don't know if this pertains, but for the past few days, I've been pretty moody/grouchy. I don't really think this is testicular cancer, but I'd like to get some opinions. Thanks.
What is the small bump on the back of my hand under my skin?
Yes. I had one in my mid-twenties. When the cyst is formed of tissue on a tendon, it "moves" with the tendon. Mine was pea-sized also, quite annoying because I knew it was there and it moved, but I had no pain. I showed it to my MD (general practitioner) and he said that at my young age, they usually disappear. Sure enough, months later, I looked down and it was gone. Why do they regress in younger people? Perhaps it has something to do with the usually-more- efficient Immune System of youth. If yours does not regress within a year, just follow up with your doctor. They can be easily removed surgically when they are small and superficial.
I have a small pea sized lump under my Scrotum.?
Lump just appeared under my Scrotum about the same size as a small pea not connected to my testicles (I think). I'm only 12 so I'm very afraid. Its not changed in anyway I know. Details Its roughly the same colour of my skin. Its not on top of the skin but under it. Size of a pea. Please tell me what it is. It would mean everything if you did. Thank you.
I found a small hard lump under my skin on my bikini line; what could it be?
I get the same....its an ingrown hair that turns into a pimple. Its really hard and hurts like hell but in 2 day you just have to pop it and put alcohol on it. You should be fine after, its from shaving, that hair got infected. When you pop it , it will be nasty wipe it with alcohol.
Small, firm bump on back of neck, underneath my skin?
Its probably a ingrown hair or a swollen gland that i also have had for 6 years. The idiot who said it could be a tumor and do you smoke is a hypocondriac or something weird. You are only 15 so it could be hormonal. I wouldnt worry but show youe doc when u see him. I am sure its nothing life threatning. People are so unknowledgable and just say things to scare you even if it makes no sense so i wouldnt ask on this site. Relax u are young and i would bet on it u are just fine. kim
Hard lump under skin on bikini line, what is it?
I had the exact same thing...It was a cyst that formed due to sweat glands and (too tight) clothing! I was convinced it was cancer or some freaky STD but my doctor gave me a round of antibiotics and had me apply rubbing alcohol and a hot washcloth every night for a few days. It soon shrunk and then, when I squeezed it, some pus-like stuff came out. The problem is that once a cyst like that forms, the shell is ALWAYS there, so every once and a while it starts to fill up again (so it looks like a whitehead) and then I just repeat the alcohol, hot cloth, and squeeze process :-p Gross, I know...
