How should I take care of my chemically smoothened hair?

Hair smoothening will make your hair more manageable, it will need some extra care to keep it in good health post the chemical treatment. Here’s a comprehensive list of post-smoothening hair care tips:Immediately After The Hair Smoothening Treatment Procedure:Do not wet hair for 3 days.Do not tie your hair or put it behind your ears. While sleeping, ensure your hair is straight.3 Days After The Hair Smoothening Procedure:Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner after three days. Leave the conditioner on for a few minutes longer than usual.Avoid hot water at all times as it will strip your tresses of moisture.Use a wide toothed hair comb to separate the strands. Remove any tangles with great care. No matter what the temptation, do not use a hair brush.Apply a hair serum regularly. This creates a barrier between your hair and outside damage from dust, sun and pollution.Use a leave in conditioner. This helps in retaining the moisture and keeps dryness and frizz away.Use hair masks frequently or get hair spas done that will add vitamins to your hair and replenish the nutrients lost because of chemical compounds.15 Days After The Hair Smoothening Procedure:Follow a nutritious diet of nuts, cashews, almonds and lots of fruits and vegetables.Have your hair trimmed on a regular basis. This ensures your hair remains in top condition. Make sure there are no split ends.Avoid use of any heating tools. If you have to blow dry, then go on the cool blast mode.Your hair needs to relax after the high dose of straightening chemicals, so no colouring or highlighting for at least 6 months.Keep your hair safe from environmental factors – harsh sun rays, cold winds and the rains. Use a hat or an umbrella.Use anti-frizz spray to moisturize dry hair and prevent your hair from getting entangled.Do not tie up your hair, or use hair pins, because they will leave a corrugated mark that is difficult to straighten back.If your hair does not get greasy, stay away from shampooing every day. Shampoo alternate days or try co-washing – simply use a conditioner as a shampoo and rinse it away.Source: Rewardme

I just relaxed my hair 12 hours ago and now it is all sticky and tangled?

STOP WASHING IT NOW!!! you're not supposed to wash or even let relaxed hair get wet for 48 hours....if you've been doing that for a long time then you've actually been undoing the process. If you're hair i sticky and tangled is it also dry or brittle and has it been breaking...if so you've been over processed and may need to cut it to stop the damage from affecting the entire strand of hair. it sounds like you could have also had a situation where whoever relaxed you didn't neutralize it enough or at all and you still have relaxer in you hair (which is super bad!) if you've washed it and it still feels sticky go to a sally or your local beauty supply store and get yourself some neutralizing shampoo. its usually pink or oranges and it changes color in the presence of relaxer chemicals to let you or your stylist know if all the chemicals have been rinsed out while helping to neutralize them. if that shampoo changes color to something other than white foam while lather you've still got relaxer in you hair and you just need to wash with the neutralizer until its gone. see a DIFFERENT more qualified stylist and have them trim you if any permanent damage results....

good luck

What is wrong with my hair?!?hair gets sticky and tangled after bathing after chemical straightening!?

Hi,I washed my hair the next day after chemical straightening,my hair gets a bit sticky and tangled and clumped together!my mom say it's the wax problem but not my hair is damaged!!is it true? Please dun tell me that my hair is damaged!!Oh nooo!I shouldn't straightened my hair!!!what should I do?????????????

Hair is breaking off, is weakish and sticky?

Have you by any chance colored or bleached your hair?

Hair breakage, extreme tangling, and a "rubbery" feel to your hair all sounds like classic over-processing of the hair. Hair gets this rubbery quality to it when you leave in chemicals (usually bleach) for longer then your hair can withstand, because it disturbs the bonds that hold your hair together. It is also possible, but not as likely, that this could be heat damage from styling appliances.

To treat your hair you need to find a conditioner with protein in it to help add some strength back into your hair, and then follow that with a moisturizing conditioner to balance out the protein. My favorite line for this is Redken. Try their Extreme Deep Fuel conditioner, it comes in a box that has 5 tubes of conditioner(you can get 1-2 treatments out of each tube). This stuff will really help your hair, it has worked miracles on many people I know. Apply it twice the first week you get it and then once a week after that and be sure to use a moisturizing conditioner right after each treatment. Good Luck!

Is sleeping in with hairspray bad for you?

So my cousin curled my hair for me about 3 hours ago and put hairspray in it. Is it okay if I sleep in it tonight? I have very fine, straight, healthy and soft hair and I really don't wanna damage it. I already showered earlier today and I don't want to shower again since I'm gonna shower tomorrow morning too (my hair gets oily quite fast). I might also keep the curls and skip showering tomorrow because I rarely ever curl my hair (it's very hard to curl). So is it okay to keep hairspray in for 24 hours? And sleep with it?

Why has my hair suddenly become constantly matted?

I have long-ish hair and have recently dyed it so it's been conditioned A LOT lately. Anyway, my hair has started getting matted over short periods of time around my shirt collars and I can't work the knots out until I wash it. Why has my hair suddenly started acting up, it used to be really soft and lovely!
