I am an empath and I easily tell my dream and life aim to everyone, which has harmed me a lot. How to avoid it?

The factor you are missing is athourity over yourself. You don't want to stop telling. You just have to find a way to stay motivated by being mysterious. By that I mean you have to let others ask from you about your dreams and goals. Better to talk to yourself instead, I say. By that you can develop a positive self-talk. Did you know that the 80% of our self-talk was negative. That's why you tell others about your dream so that unconsciencely you can get their approval. You trully expect them to encourage you but what happens is most of the time they end up discouraging you.Do you know why it is so important to stay mysterious? That's because you shouldn't rely on others' feedbacks. Feedbacks are going to come in both forms. But stay dittached to them whether they are positive or negative.During that process you must do your work towards your dream. Do them regardless of your mood in the day. Stay burning and pumped up. Give up those lazy, respectable attitudes (if any).Godspeed badass!

What is the difference between DREAM and AIM ?

They are actually quite different. Dream is the most tenuous of the synonyms hope, & wish. Hope "may" be well-founded in probability, or completely beyond the pale of possibility. Wish is less plausible than hope, & dream even less. Think of dream as a fantasy--our imaginations divorced from reality. To have dreams is healthy, (& fun), as long as one doesn't get fixated on them & believe they will come true.
Aim refers to an intention, effort put into a goal not open to doubt, to have in mind the "doing" of some act to attain the goal/purpose. It's taking action to achieve reality.
I "dream" of going to the moon, I "aim" to finish typing my psychological profile on my newest client.
You have a good week, too! Hey, Monday is a holiday!

Edit: Having looked at the answers, most people link dreams to aims. In essence, "If we don't AIM for the DREAM, it will never come true." My definitions were basic, not intermingled, & in my experience, I've found this best for clarity--enjoyment of dreams, & not high expectations of them, as well as putting one's energies into what is feasible.

Is it bad to dream big?

Dreaming big is absolutely needed if you are ambitious and want to stay busy working on projects. If you want to spend your life chilled out - then the answer is no. So the first thing is to figure out what do you want out of life: busyness or relaxation. If you’re asking this question I am going to assume you are at least quasi-interested in pursuing an ambitious goal, so with that in mind, I’m going to answer the question - how is the best way to pursue a big goal.We hear a lot around ‘dreaming big’, but the crazy part is, rarely do people teach much past that attention grabbing headline. Big dreams - and big results - are lovely on glossy magazine covers, but the reality is far less glamorous. As such, here are the less glamorous parts to dreaming big.a) If you’re going to dream big and work hard, you’re going to have to link your work to a deep emotional driver. Dreaming big means a lot of small failures, and you are going to need additional motivation when things don’t go well. To that end, ideally you can link your work to a bigger purpose in life.b) Once you are working from a deeper purpose, you need to break that big goal down to MUCH smaller goals. If it’s business, you’ll want to start with attempting to make $1. Then $10, then $100, $1,000, $10,000 etc. Keep adding a zero. You’ll learn new lessons, and make mistakes at each zero which will be completely fine. You don’t want to be making $10,000 mistakes when you’re aiming for $1M.c) Don’t expect to get to what you’re aiming for straight away. Yes, there will always be those people who achieve a lot early on, so taking advice from those people can be as dangerous as listening to someone who has won the lotto saying ‘it works, sell all your assets and buy lotto tickets’. This of course doesn’t mean you can’t achieve big goals if you want, but be prepared for a decade of hard work and growth followed by another. Don’t expect too much too soon.If this isn’t a business goal, perhaps it’s attempting to make change in the world/pursue a passion, or anything other than a business goal, the same process applies - break everything down into the next small step, and don’t expect it to come all at once. You don’t have to achieve everything at once, you just have to get to the next step. And you can get to the next step :)

I killed my nephew in a dream what does it mean ?

I had a dream I was in my house . All peoPle everywhere was in teams of 2 and the aim was that we had to kill the other teams with knives, well my nephew was in my room and I went right up to him slit his throat then he started shouting at me and i stabbed him in the stomach without hesitating. I woke up upset and freaked out .. But I would never hurt my nephew . So why did I dream it ?

Why aim for the stars when you can barely touch the clouds?

Just to start an argument I believe school isn't the biggest priority. An education is usually best for people but your well being is much more important. Going to school will most likely open more opportunities for you to reach a dream then the latter. Many people dream big because it is simply something to aspire about and keep their spirits up. Later on in life I have to say people get their dreams crushed by reality. I won't be the person to tell anyone you can't do something but there will be someone sooner or later to get in your way. Dreaming to be "great" isn't such a bad thing as it can give you the confidence and will to do better than you would normally do even going to the extent as being able to change a mindset. This would would be nothing without police and a medical field so people shouldn't think that just because you want to be in law enforcement doesn't mean it isn't a great dream to YOU. Everyone sees things differently. I hope this helped you a little. ^-^

How can I start setting bigger goals/ dreaming bigger and aiming higher?

There are three rules I love to share with you about setting goals and following dreams.Set big goals, take small steps. We over estimate what we can do in 1 year and we under estimate what we can do in 3 years. When we do hit for the moon, we land at least among the starsDon't let you be stopped by the belief that you have know every step towards a big goal or dream, or that you need to have the knowledge, experience and abilities up front. Just by going for 100% for your big dream or goal, your brain will start finding the opportunities towards your dreams or goals. If this is a study, a new mentor, new investors etc. So just take the small steps of one phone call to start with. Or just a little vision board. If you set goals for the next 3 years, double these! We naturally under estimate what we are capable of. So always set 3 year goals, double these, and think about what you can do today to come close to that goal. Even if you go for your big goal, and will not hit it.. You will come close, you become more skillfull and a more experienced person. You will grow! Dare to grow, be curious and share your big dream with other people. Other people (don't expect to much of your closest friends and family) will support you and bring you new opportunities towards your goals or dreams. They might know the people who can help you as a mentor or partner. The reason you don't have to expect much of your closest friends or family, is because they will protect you because they love you so much. So don't let anyone tell you things can not be done.. It might become your reality (and you have to ask Quora how to do it ;)

How likely is it to achieve your goals and dreams?

I've met so many people that are passed their prime and well into middle age that seem to have not met their goals but are content in their life. At 21, I feel like I have so many dreams and time is just passing by. I'm no smarter or well off than these people and It kind of scares me that I'll be unable to accomplish what I want. I work full time and go to school full time also, and every time I feel like quitting everything I just daydream about my goals, but seeing so many people not achieve theirs leaves me skeptical. Have you been able to achieve your goals? Are you content?

What is your dream? What steps are you taking to achieve it?

I'm turning 54 years old this month. Over the years I have accomplished many of my previous goals. I obtained my PhD, helped to build our sons’ childhood home, raised three amazing boys, and enjoy the opportunity to emphasize the philosophical and spiritual aspects of life circumstances to those I'm around.I lost my husband last year to cancer. For the past year I have been trying to find the floor beneath my feet again and to learn how to stand up as a new person (a middle-aged woman with three grown sons) while finding a new path and direction for my life.So your question is timely! My new goals includes writing two more books. I have self-published three devotionals but want to do something different. I have started to write again! This latest manuscript will be an autobiographical look at my search to come home.I would like to be in a new romantic, intimate relationship. I have spent my entire adulthood being someone’s wife. My marriage had its flaws but I loved sharing life with another person. I hope God says yes, and someone amazing comes into my life. And finally I would like to be one of the top writers here on Quora! I love the concept of this medium and enjoy the generosity and curiosity of my fellow Quorans.
