What Is Your Favorite Healthy Food In The Philippines

Healthy meal for less than 15 pesos in the Philippines?

P15? That's too low! You must be on a really tight budget. Why starve yourself?

Anyhow do you have a fridge?
When I was in living in another province and it's not advisable to cook meals for just one person (myself), I learned from a friend that SM supermarket has cut pieces of pork that sells for just P15/pc. Some are marinated or has bread crumbs already. But then you still need to cook it and might need to add some spices and seasonings, so the cost will be a little over P15.

Option 2: If you have a fridge, buy 1/4kg of ground pork. It will cost you around P40. Think of recipes that use ground pork like torta, tortang talong, a basic sweet and sour recipe, and spring rolls (tho i doubt if you can buy wrappers per piece) ---> all these needs ground pork, egg and ketsup (plus sugar and vinegar for sweet and sour).

Option 3: Buy other cold cuts (like chicken or pork baloney) in a public market. You can always buy less than a kilo. just ask.

Option 4: If you'd like to go on a healthy cleansing diet, buy mangoes or some other fruits that sells P10-15/pc. Mangoes sell for about 60/kg. As I've said, you can always buy less than 1kg.

Option 5: Egg sells for P4-5/pc. Eat fried egg with bread in the morning, scrambled egg for lunch and fried egg with rice in the evening. Then use your savings and see a doctor :)

Option 6: UN considers poor any person living below 2 USD/day. Your budget is roughly 1USD/day. I suggest you buy the poor man's food: look for preserved fish/tuyo or dilis. They are easy to cook :) Don't forget soy sauce, onion and tomatoes.

Option 6: As suggested by another yapper, water cleansing is good for the body. You can live for 2 weeks with just water. Go on a diet for 1 week then the following week, you can spend P30/meal.

How do you find my suggestions?

Is Filipino food healthier than Thai food?

All the pinoy foods I've eaten have always been so saucy, greasy (fried), or fatty, or a combination of either. I have never encountered Thai foods that really fit in these categories.

What is your favorite Filipino food?

Sisig.Best gem of Filipino cuisine, bar none. This is a Kapampangan dish usually made of pork kasim (shoulder) with onions, chili peppers and calamansi, sometimes drizzled with mayonnaise. It isn’t just limited to pork, though, since other varieties exist using as meat chicken, tuna, sardine and even tofu.Sizzling sisig, as the name suggests, is served right from the frying pan, usually with a raw egg on top, as seen above (don’t worry, the heat cooks it).Damn delicious. I suggest you try this when you visit our country—or at least dine in a Filipino restaurant, if they serve it.Credits to the owner of the picture.

Filipino Food Is Siapoa fatty food? healthy?

It depends on what type of filling you order:
the bbq pork has some fat in it and sauce which is fatty plus the starch on the steamed bread.
the bola bola has a lot of fat and good flavors with hard boiled egg either ground pork or ground chicken and some veggies.
Just enjoy the siopao in moderation.

Philippines? street foods?

Yes it is tastes good. Most of the street foods sold in the Philippines are delicious but you have to be carefull and make sure that it was prepared in a hygenic manner if you don't want to catch a disease.

I noticed that maybe you love grilled foods that is why you tried some of our local barbecues.
I remember when I was young I love to buy barbecues...
One of those is the "isaw" that you have eaten...
Mind you they got weird names but most tastes good...
But they are not for people who have "weak" stomachs.

...I listed below some of those famous street barbecues with their corresponding "street" names:

Isaw- Intestines of a pig or cow marinated and skewered (but nowadays they also also refer it as the intestine of a chicken)
IUD- Intestines of a chicken (back then it was called like that)
Betamax- salted solidified pork or chicken blood which is skewered
Helmet- Chicken head
barbecue tenga- pig ears that have been marinated and skewered
pork barbecue- which is skewered pork marinated in a usually sweet blend
Adidas- which is grilled or sautéed chicken feet (It used to be a famous brand of shoes that's why they named it like that.)

Why is Filipino food so unhealthy?

Filipino cuisine derives its flavour from sugar, salt and vinegar. They do not use much spices or sources of unami (eg fish sauce).Filipino culture is influenced by Americans. Therefore, they view fastfood more positively than rest of SE Asia. They eat lots of processed carbohydrates like rice and sugar. These are the foods they grow abundantly. There is a lack of red meat since there is no sizeable meat industries.Coconut is also unhealthy and often used in Filipino food. They do not grow soya beans so they do not eat much plant protein.Culturally, they serve their fishes (main source of protein) fried in oil.
