What is your favorite level in the Super Mario Brothers video game series?
Tough one. But I think I’ll go with the tutorial level of Mario Odyssey for now, Cascade Kingdom (Fossil Falls). Why? Well, purely for what it meant to me as one who has loved the Mario franchise ever since they were able to pick up a controller.It comes down to 2 things. The music of the level, and finally playing the true sequel to Super Mario 64 I’ve been wanting for so many years.the return to the sanbox style of 3D Mario I’ve been waiting so long for, and to see Nintendo embrace that is just… thank you Nintendo.The moment the cutscene of Mario landing in the kingdom ended, and the absolutely beautiful music began, I was finally able to move Mario. I just ran. I triple jumped, I dived, I Long jumped, spin jumped, and lastlyI began to tear up a little with such strong feelings of joy.I cant stress enough how happy I am I was finally playing the true sequel to 64 I had been waiting all my life for.But most importantly, the moment evoked a feeling of true happiness I only get with Mario. And it doesn’t happen often. That raw feeling of fun, hapiness, and so much more can never be achieved on the same level as it can with Mario.Please, go play Super Mario Odyssey for the Switch. I guarantee you, you’ll have nothing but a blast.
What is your favorite New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe gameplay mechanic?
I’m not a geek in the Mario Bros. franchise or anything, but I really like how you are able to hang on walls with the acorn power up. Very helpful in mini boss battles! (I beat Morton in 20 seconds…)

What is your favorite level or world in Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA version)?
My favorite world was probably World 7 due to how stark a departure it was from the previous worlds. Worlds 1,3, and 5 were grass worlds. World 4 was an ice world. Worlds 2 and 6 were desert worlds. World 7 though you probably would expect to be a fire hole like any typical final world but Wart is no Bowser and it shows in his castle. Situated high in a realm above the clouds that has ancient greece like architecture this world not only has a very cool atmosphere to it but it is also quite fittingly the hardest world in the game. It’s also notable for being the only world that has 2 stages to it as opposed to the usual 3. To compensate though the World 7 stages are longer and 7–2 which is set inside Wart’s castle is a massive dungeon filled to the brim with some of the toughest enemies in the game. You not only fight Birdo for the final time here for a key. You also fight a boss known as Masked Gate or Hawkmouth. You know that door that you kept entering throughout the game. That guy was a boss the whole time and he comes off the wall trying to ram into you. It’s quite surprising. Even after defeating him though the game’s not over as you enter the castle throne room to face Wart himself. Like most bosses in this game he’s pretty easy once you get the general idea of how to damage him but he at least is slightly harder then some of the other bosses. The game also has an interesting twist at the end. As Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad celebrate their victory the scene shifts to Mario in his bed dreaming the whole thing. This probably means that Mario is remembering his adventures in Subcon. The cast rolls as Mario gets some well deserved rest.

What is your favorite super Mario Brothers character?
Wario’s always pretty entertaining. I just wish they’d make actual Wario games again — nothing against the WarioWare games or anything, but we haven’t gotten any “play as Wario and go around smashing stuff and stealing treasures” sort of games since Wario Land: Shake It!… unless I missed one.A lot of the new characters introduced in the RPGs are great, too. Like Geno and Fawful for example. That’s the kind of thing the Mario games need, not just infinite repetitions of “Bowser kidnapped the Princess, go save her Mario!” over and over and over again. Whatever happened to Mario storylines with a new main villain instead of just Bowser again? Even the Paper Mario games are getting overly “Bowsery” now, after a long run of only one Bowser-as-main-villain game (and even then it was only thanks to the Star Rod powering him up.)
