What Is Your First Goal For 2014

Should that first goal from Croatia which was over the head have been allowed? Both teams did their best.

The referees and VAR could have refused this goal and it wouldn’t have been any controversy. Here is a typical situation where you can find people who would admit the goal and people who would refuse it. Its all about the referee’s feeling. For sure the foot of Perisic was over the head of Walker which could have been qualified as dangerous play, but referees and VAR have clearly decided to be “cooler” about faults since there have been many complaints against all the fault in the penalty box for group matches. Here the referees and VAR judged that the main goal of Perisic was to play the ball rather than committing a dangerous play. In addition, Perisic was coming in the back of Walker who already thought that he had the ball. If we look the replay of this goal, we can see that no Walker’s teammates warned him that Perisic was coming in his back and Walker had already anticipated how he will kick out the ball with his head. Perisic just came in his back to play the ball. His foot is over the Walker’s head, but Walker created this situation. I think most people have agreed with the legitimacy of this goal. We have seen more dangerous plays than this one.

Which goal from the 2014-15 season would you consider to be the best?

1. Robin Van Persie’s incredible diving header during the World Cup 14’. During a World Cup group clash, Robin leaped forward and looped an almost unreal header over Casillas. Holland went on to win that game 5-1 , a result that signified the end of Spanish dominance in world cup football.2.  That Sensational Strike from Charlie AdamCharlie Adam scores from inside his own half with an audacious strike. Stoke City went on to lose the game, but that goal will always be remembered as one of the best in the Premier League history!3. Juan Mata's incredible scissor Kick against LiverpoolJuan Mata scores an incredible scissor kick, latching on to Di Maria’s pass and volleying in a stunning effort  as Man United beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield.  4. Defoe's insane volley    Defoe’s brilliant volley with his left foot , that lead Sunderland to victory against Newcastle. The goal was so good that even Tim Krul congratulated the striker! *_*

The making of a full sized Dalek! What kind of motors will I need to drive it?

So here is the deal. I want to make a Dalek.
It's sort of my 2014 goal, to be ready for Day Of The Doctor 2014, on the 51st anniversary of doctor who!

You probably think I'm crazy, well I prefer to think of myself as Mad. Unfortunately, I don't have a big blue box, but I think I'll manage without.
Back to the point.

This Dalek will unfortunately not be all metal. That would be way too heavy, as well as I don't have the means to cut the metal, except for a jigsaw. I could learn how to weld (and I have been meaning too) but for now I think a simple foam build will do just fine.

So the (Simplified) plan is simple. Make a wooden frame. Add motors. Cover in modeled foam play mats. Detail. Finish.

As I said, simplified. It works better in my head.

But um, the question today is:
Given the fact that it will be wood and foam, what sort of motors will I need to drive it. More percisely, what setup will I need?

So I can program the control system with arduino, but I don't think a L293D chip can control a motor capable of driving a dalek. So back to the motor, what motor would I need? And how do I attach wheels to it?
So a motor with pre-attached wheels (and mount, for mounting to the frame) would be ideal.

And what about the battery? I would need one that could power the motors for at the very least 3 hours. And hopefully match the voltage and amp requirements.

Well as for the drive system, that leaves just on thing. The mofset, motor controller, heavy duty H-bridge or whatever else will allow me to control it.

If yous guys could help direct me to what where I can find these things I need that would be great!
This is one part of a list to the completed goal! I'll be posting more information on youtube, as I plan to record my adventure through this. It should be under the title: "The Making of a Dalek - Vlog #1: Your Making What!?" so enjoy.

Now I thank you all in advance for your answers. I hope they will be greatly helpful!

Can you raise your GPA in one or two quarters?

So I will be a Senior in the 2013-2014 school year and my GPA is about a 3.0. I would need to start applying for colleges between the first and second quarter and the scholarships from these schools that I am looking into require a GPA between 3.5-3.75. I know this is probably a bit unlikely for me to accomplish but how can I try to achieve this goal? Will I be eligible for these same scholarships even after I apply if my grades aren't up to par by the deadline but are before the end of the high school year?
