What Is Your Impression About This Talk Show Clip

Is there a China version of The Daily Show?

If you are looking for a Chinese talk show that talks about politics very much, my answers is no. But if you are looking for some hilarious Chinese talk shows, there definitely are. Like this one:http://v.qq.com/detail/9/915.html

Why do several popular Japanese television shows have a picture-in-picture of the hosts while a long segment is playing?

Many Japanese shows use the picture-in-picture technique. Game shows will often keep judges' faces in the corner and variety shows will display タレント (talentos)'s expressions. My impression is that they do so in order to let people know how to react, or what an appropriate reaction is. This phenomenon seems quite similar to the American tradition of using canned laugh tracks, which were also developed to let the audience know when to laugh. Additionally, the people featured know that their faces are on display so will often overreact in comical ways to increase the humor/amusement of the audience. Here's a really great related excerpt from KQED's Forum on 11/01/11 (http://www.kqed.org/a/forum/R201...Listener: I watch the Food Network and the many food shows on the Travel Channel and it seems to me that the attraction is watching the hosts reacting to eating something delicious. Facial expressions, etc seem to fascinate people more than the food.Adam Gopnick: I certainly think that's true. It's the reaction shot. That's true in magic too, you know, David Blane discovered that, that the whole key was not to focus on the magician, was to focus on the face of the girls going, "OOOh, I can't believe that!" And so clearly we have deep empathetic reactions to seeing other people's pleasure. I'm not sure if that's an entirely good thing but it's certainly the case."

Anyone have Press On Veneers?

Has anyone gotten teeth from pressonveneers.com?

It looks exactly like "Snap On Smile" but only costs $600 instead of $1,200 because you do the dental impressions yourself.

Are they worth it?
Can you talk with them?
Are they comfortable?
Do they look fake?

Please answer if you have any experience with these. I'm getting married in a few months and I don't want to smile with my mouth closed (very crooked teeth). We can't afford $30,000 for veneers but this seems like a good deal until we can afford real dental work.

What are some positive jokes about Michael Jackson?

They're definitely out there, though I'm afraid I don't know any by heart.

Michael's comedian friends make tasteful jokes about him. Chris Tucker and Eddie Murphy certainly have and I believe Steve Harvey as well.

They tend to use humor that Michael himself would laugh at.

You can look up some stuff on Youtube.

I know there's some material with Chris Tucker talking about Michael as a pimp, and Eddie doing a damn good impression of Mike while talking about how sensitive he is and Steve Harvey talking about Michael's money, clothes and Neverland.

There's also a really funny Janet Jackson interview where Mike is mentioned several times, I'll just give you some links.

Here's the Chris Tucker stand-up, he talks about roaches and stuff before he gets to MJ, and it's *too* funny! :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOqiKLmDv...

Here's a clip from the Eddie Murphy stand-up, which is simply awesome, the best impression of MJ I've seen!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQXddCgDx...

And the Steve Harvey stand-up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC6k_YY4q...

What exactly did Garrett Morris say about The Rolling Stones song "Some Girls" on SNL in 1978?

According to Wiki:

Saturday Night Live cast member Garrett Morris would have the final say on the controversy with a mock-editorial on the show's Weekend Update segment: After giving the impression that he was going to openly criticise the Stones, he quoted a sanitised version of the "Black girls just..." line, then stated "I have one thing to say to you, Mr. Mick Jagger... where are these women?!?"

_____________

Bill Murray: Last year, the Rolling Stones album "Some Girls" was attacked by black leaders as being racist and it seems that time has not diminished the furor over it, as it was recently the subject of a speech delivered by the Reverend Jesse Jackson at an event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Supreme Court's desegregation decision. Here to comment is Update's token sociologist, Garrett Morris. ...

[Polite applause for a bespectacled Garrett Morris who looks dapper and dicty in a suit and tie.]

Garrett Morris: [dignified, dripping with snooty condescension] Now, I'd like to speak about the subject of a certain Mick Jagger - of the Rolling Stones. ... And I'm going to talk about the song he sang -- a song in which he sings these very words: "Black girls - just want to have sex - all night long." ...

Now, Mr. Jagger, there is only one question I want to ask you -- Jaggs. ... And you better have the answer, man, you better have the answer, since you have besmirched the character of black women. Therefore, here is my question, Jaggs. [pause, takes off eyeglasses, suddenly drops the pose, pleading] Where are all of these black broads, man? ... [huge cheers and applause] Hey, like, where ARE they, baby? You got any phone numbers for me, baby? ... Please send 'em to me. [puts glasses back on, dignified again] Thank you. ... [enthusiastic applause]
