What Is Your Opinion Of People Who Are Still Obsessed With Sarah Palin

Why is the American left obsessed with Sarah Palin? If she is so inherently flawed as a person and potential candidate, obviously she is unelectable and the left should pay her no heed.

She is the great symbol of how low the GOP has sunk in terms of national politics. Efforts to polish her up in the media aside (and yes, that happened), she was basically an effort to gather the Southern, low income, white vote. Which is like the Democrats making an effort to get the inner city black vote - using an important tool to get something you would have had no matter what.2008 is the only election where she could possibly have gotten tagged as a VP candidate. She was literally the only remotely viable candidate who would accept the nomination. The GOP reached the bottom of the barrel, turned the barrel over and looked under it, and then dug down a few feet. If Palin had turned them down, they were going to have to start looking at state legislators. No one who saw any possibility of Presidential politics in their future was interested in being McCain's VP.If they could have gotten almost anyone else to run, there is a very good chance that we'd all be complaining about President McCain now. Thats how many people voted against Palin in 2008. The idea of her possibly becoming President was fucking terrifying. Republicans should also be fascinated with her. The RNC should have posters with her picture and the words "Never Again" on every wall of every office they have in the country. She should have sparked a massive effort to groom quality candidates for the party to choose from in 2012 and beyond. She didn't, and that's why we'll probably have at least 4 more years of a Democrat in the White House come 2016.

Why are people so obsessed with hating the other political parties?

Seriously, who else is sick of all the immature name calling that goes on around here? Last time I checked we were all part of the same country, and if we were all trying to help the country, couldn’t we find SOME way to get liberals and conservatives to just get along? Or at least stop bashing each other? I mean, I understand we have different views, but can’t we compromise?

So my question is to any of you who have posted a question asking something that was insulting to republicans and/or democrats, or answered in a way that was insulting to either party, why are you so obsessed with hating the other political parties?

Note: I understand not everyone is like this, but you have to admit, looking at what goes on, a lot of people are.

How is it being obsessed with someone (Palin) to criticize them when they are, of their own volition, on TV?

I didn't make her go on TV.
I didn't make her tweet her idiotic views.
I didn't make her give speeches around the country.
I didn't make her endorse candidates (ouch, not going well).
I didn't make her a media whore.

So why am I accused of being obsessed with her, when she puts herself in the spotlight?

If she wants to retire somewhere and just write books, no problem with me. She wants to be in the public eye, it isn't being obsessed with her to criticize her public opinions. Is it?

Why are people so obsessed about Harambe?

Not to be rude or anything, but I think Harambe's death is overrated.
I mean the little boy who fell into the water was more important than an animal.
Kids aren't "smart" enough to think, so you can't blame the boy. And you couldn't know what would happen to him, if they had not shot Harambe.
I think it's kinda sad that the gorilla died, but it's just an animal. If animals were the smart race and humans weren't, then they would put us into cages and call that a zoo. And they would eat us and stuff like that. Think about that!
That's why animals aren't that important. And btw people kill animals like pigs and flies and cows often and nobody cares about that. But if someone kill a gorilla to protect a child, then everyone freak out. LIKE WTH.

Why are liberals obsessed with intelligence?

Maybe because they can spell?

Is sarah palin a communist in this election?

her style reminds me of some dictatorships in the 3rd world.
she never speaks to the press.
her investigation has gon 'confidential'
the info around her is leaning towards 'controlled'
she comes across as a straight propaganda tool.

your thoughts please

Do you miss Sarah Palin in the news?

Not really. She came out of nowhere. She seemed sincere and appeared to try really hard. Her resignation doesn’t sit well with me though.

Can anyone figure out what Sarah Palin is saying in her speech about opposing the Iran nuclear deal?

I believe that James Beck covered most of it.  I am going to address the question about the base. No, there is no way to translate her statements into intelligible English.  And as the detail question suggests, that may be the point.  I have come to believe that what dominates a large swath of American politics is what I label as anti-rationalism.  In short, to some people, if you sound like you make sense, they do not trust what you have to say.  It is only by deliberately not making sense that one appeals to this segment of the electorate/populace.I do not wish to be accused of "violating Godwin's law," nor do I want to imply that Sarah Palin or her Tea Party ilk are Nazis, but they may be the "precursor condition" for something akin to Nazism.  The reality is, these people have an obsession with security, and they seem to feel theirs is in perpetual jeopardy.  People in crisis rarely respond well to rational thought.  I believe that over time, this group has been in such perpetual crisis that they have come to regard rational thought as the enemy.Small minded, opportunistic politicians such as Sarah Palin and the Trump are responding to and appealing to this anti-rationalism for their own personal gain.   From my perspective, one would have to be in willful denial to believe otherwise. These charlatans promise unrealistic security to people who will never feel secure.  They are in principle, no different than the drug dealer or the bartender who continues to serve alcoholics.Fortunately, at least so far, while these charlatans are very popular with their segment, they are wildly unpopular outside of the "fear demographic."  My only real concern is that in Nazi Germany, the National Socialists only polled at 30% or so, about what the Trump is polling now.Hitler could not have succeeded without the cooperation or ignorance of the traditional conservatives.  That's what remains to be seen here. That's why the shift to the left of the Democrats bothers me.  It forces the traditional conservatives into an untenable position. Thanks for the A2A, James Hollomon.

"Americans are obsessed with race." Where does this notion come from?

I am Australian. When I was a post-doc in the USA (2 universities) I had to fill out a form stating my racial/ethnic origin. Under “other” I truthfully and accurately described my self as Australian. In both universities it was crossed out and I was designated an “Asian/Pacific Islander”. The problem is that I have no known Asian or Pacific Islander descent. However, it did make me rated as minority faculty and so it boosted their EEO/AA rating. No-one ever asked my opinion on the matter and nobody ever came to check. I concluded that university statistics on how many racial-ethnic minorities they have is entirely a fabrication. The numbers are cooked.I loved filling out the incredibly biased survey forms I was always being sent in which I was expected to say how oppressed I was.Laughably I am of indefinite racial origin but cannot find out what.
