How easy is it to get a job as an architect?
It has been my experience that it is very difficult to get a job as an architect or related support position (drafter, designer, etc), mainly because the field is highly competitive. For a long time, there have been far more people looking for work in architecture than there have been available positions. That is one of the reasons why I became disenchanted with the architectural field and left it almost twenty years ago. To work as an architect, you will need to earn a bachelors or masters degree in architecture, and pass the NCARB exam. You should attend a college that offers a good architecture program, and, ideally, spend your summers working in an architect's office (whether or not for college internship credit). The fact that you have proficiency in Autocad is a big plus, and should help you tremendously in your job search. You can probably work as a CAD drafter without going to college, but you will need to get a degree if you want to advance to an architect. I wish you luck.
Architect or Welder?
I have two more years of school left, and I've been asking my teachers and everything. I can't choose between these two careers. They're both part of my dream, but I just can't choose. So help me please? Architect or Welder? PS- I am a female, and I've been told I could get my job faster if I choose welding.

Can an Architect work for the military?
Certainly! The Army Corps of Engineers, Navy SeaBees, etc I know the Navy has an enlisted job of Draftsman (Merged with other MOS') And I am sure the other branches have something similar. But any true architect jobs will be officer jobs which will require a bachelors degree.
