The best answer to “What can I do without a High School diploma?” is “GET YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA.” Seriously…if you don’t have it, you need to get it (or at the very least a GED.)Why? Because any employer is going to want to see that you can be given a task and complete it, even if it is hard, or not something you particularly want to do. What better way to demonstrate that than graduating HS? The other thing that a HS diploma shows is that you have accumulated at least a base level of knowledge about things you should know about the world. You may not be able to write a novel or do calculus, but you have at least demonstrated some ability to read, write and do some basic math. Almost all jobs require those skills in some way.So unless your goal is to work menial and low paying jobs for the rest of your life, then having a HS diploma is essential !!!(And yes people, I recognize that some people without diplomas become millionaires and are very successful. And for each one of those people who have done that I will provide you with 1,000,000 who have not. Want to roll the dice on being that 1 in a million? Roll away…it is your life.)

Getting your GED is not to difficult. If you asked this question on line this means you have a computer. So search how to get started to get your GED. People will help you so don't worry about not being able to get it. It might be difficult to get a job that pays more than the minimum wage without it. Don't give up. Skilled trades can pay well and are often in demand, and without the burden of student loans for college you could even come out ahead. There is prejudice and discrimination against people who don't go to college and especially high school, but this is not an insurmountable barrier. As you move further beyond school years, your experience and natural ability will become more important, except with backward employers for whom college degrees are non-negotiable.

I'm sure he could work at home depot, i've known high schoolers who worked there so he should be able to. Also any store he could probably get a job at as a cashier, clerk, or working in the back of a large store (like unloading the trucks or something). Maybe he could eventually advance to manager or assistant manager, although he'd have to figure out the specific requirements of the place he was working at cause i don't know if they require a hs diploma or GED. good luck to you two
