What Kind Of Curling Iron Should I Get

What kind of curling iron do you use to get these waves?

I think a 1 inch curling iron will work. I prefer clipless curling irons are a lot easier to use, they allow you to create flawless, natural looking curls and waves effortlessly and in less time than a conventional spring curling iron. I recommend a very good one, it's the Karmin Salon Pro Clipless tourmaline curling Iron, ceramic and tourmaline technology leave hair smooth, shiny and full of bounce and avoid hair damages. It works pretty good, and it only takes me a very short amount of time to get big loose curls. I bought it at safrons http://www.safrons.com/karmin-professional-salon-pro-clipless-ceramic-tourmaline-curling-iron.html Hope this helps :)

What size curling iron should I buy?

I have a 2 inch which is nice for big curls, its a Revlon..but the bigger you go sometimes the harder it is to curl i also have a 1 1/2 inch and that one is nice for medium size curls i believe the brand is hot tools that is a really good brand and curls really nice. If you get a 2 inch I'd recommend you start curling from the top of your hair by your roots there are tutorials on you tube and instead of sectioning hair from bottom to top take sections top and bottom and work around your head vs bottom to top i have thick hair it works well for me :)

How do I curl my hair using a Curling Iron?

Plug that puppy in and heat it up. If you turn it to a High setting you will have better results. Clamp the bottom ends of your hair and roll all the way up to your scalp. Let it rest for a minute, no more Then the easiest way to remove the iron is to put a little tension on the handle relaxing the hair and gently just remove the irom fully, with hair still curled. Not if your curls have a tendency to "fall" from the weight of your hair, take that curl and wrap it gently around a sponge roller while you do the rest of your hair. Once you have curled and done the sponge rollers. Remove the rollers gentley and softly spray each curl as it is rolled out. Do not touch your hair for at lest 20 minutes. Once you'e finished with each curl and have waited, then if you want you can take a wide tooth comb and move the curls around your face and head and use the hair spray to put them in place. The hardes part in doing this is doing the back. But pracice makes perfect. If you want more "wavy" hair, turn you head upside down and use your fingers to gently bruch (with your fingers) your hair out, a hair dryer will add volume as well. Spray some hair spray on while you head is still upside down, wait a minute for that hairspray to dry, flip up your hair and wa-la! Using a brush on your hair may pull your curls out. You can try it, and just experiment. You'll get the hang of it. Use Aussie products to protect the hair and add moisture. A curling iron is good, but if you use it everyday it will have a tendancy to dry out your hair.

What kind of glove do I use with a curling wand?

Regular winter gloves work just as good. Trust me, I bought a $10 glove made specifically for curling hair and protecting your hands from the heat and that thing was so thin and it was just like a winter glove. I curled my hair with it and my hand accidentally touched my curling wand and honestly I didn't feel anything. I keep mine on like 350 degrees and I think as long as your hand doesn't come in contact with the curling iron/wand for more than like 5-6 seconds, you will be fine! (: Save your money and just buy a regular winter glove! (:

What are some tips for using a curling wand?

The most important thing to know is how to use it and what temperature you should set it at. Here is a quote form an article I found that should help you with that:The curling wand/rodThis is an increasingly popular option. The main difference between it and an iron is that wands don’t have clamps and the cord is usually up when you use it. Depending on what type of wand you get, your hair can come off in a cone-like shape or a traditional barrel shape. The curling wands often come with a glove to protect your hand from the heat as you wrap your hair around the wand. You will want to use a little tension so that the hair doesn’t fall down the barrel to the smallest section of the wand. By wrapping the hair, you will get a puffed curl. How hot is hot enoughTemperature matters. Too low of a temperature means that your curls probably won’t hold very long. That being said, putting the temperature too hot won’t necessarily make the curls better, it’ll just scorch your hair. For thin hairIf you have thinner hair, you don’t want to expose it to excessive heat otherwise it could easily get damaged and break off. That is called heat abuse and we don’t want to have to report you for it! It would be best to not set your curling iron much above 200°. (Not all tools come with temp settings. Look for one that does.)For thicker hairYour locks can withstand a little more heat and need more heat for the styling to stick. To solidify those perfect curls, those with thicker hair should set their curling irons to between 200° and 300°.Timing is keyThe length of time that you keep your hair wrapped in the curling iron can dramatically change how your curls come out. For real.5 seconds = loose waves7 seconds = slightly loose curls10+ seconds = tight curlsBefore you do anything, protect that hair!Heat damage is a legit concern when styling hair with any type of heat tool. It is important to invest in a heat-protect spray, serum or cream to defend your hair from frying and becoming frizzy. These protectants will also help replenish moisture that can be lost in the styling process. The main ingredients to look for are silicone. Other helpful ingredients include (but are not limited to): Phytantriol, Polyquaternium -4, hydrolyzed wheat protein and PVP/DMAPA Acrylates Copolymer. You can find a lot more useful info by reading the full article here.
